"Grow in Jesus" for Saturday, 6 May 2017 with the Bible Reading: Colossians 2:6-10Colossians 2:6 Therefore, just as you received the Messiah Yeshua as Lord, keep living your life united with him. 7 Remain deeply rooted in him; continue being built up in him and confirmed in your trust, the way you were taught, so that you overflow in thanksgiving.
8 Watch out, so that no one will take you captive by means of philosophy and empty deceit, following human tradition which accords with the elemental spirits of the world but does not accord with the Messiah. 9 For in him, bodily, lives the fullness of all that God is. 10 And it is in union with him that you have been made full — he is the head of every rule and authority.

Every day as I travel to work, I pass an apple orchard. This time of year the apple trees are starting to blossom. When I look at the trees, I think about the fall time when I will be able to pick apples and make apple pies.
I can look at the apple trees and think about the apples that will grow. But I can't make the apples appear any faster. God has a plan for things that grow on the earth. It takes time for the apples to form and grow.
In the same way, our Christian growth takes time, too. We must be patient as we live every day for Jesus. Paul reminds us in our verses today that if we want to grow in Jesus, we need to stay away from false teachings and things that can draw us away from God.
God will be with you today as you study His Word and grow in Jesus!
"You must depend on Christ only, drawing life and strength from him. Just as you were taught the truth, continue to grow stronger in your understanding of it. And never stop giving thanks to God."[Colossians 2:7]
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for helping me be patient as I grow each day. In Jesus' name. Amen.

"God's Plan (3)" for Friday, 5 May 2017 with The Bible Reading: Revelation 21:1-7 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United StatesRevelation 21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth,[Revelation 21:1 Isaiah 65:17, 66:22] for the old heaven and the old earth had passed away, and the sea was no longer there. 2 Also I saw the holy city, New Yerushalayim, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud voice from the throne say, “See! God’s Sh’khinah is with mankind, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and he himself, God-with-them, will be their God.[Revelation 21:3 Leviticus 26:11–12; Isaiah 7:14; 8:8, 10; Jeremiah 31:33(34); Ezekiel 37:27; 2 Chronicles 6:18] 4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will no longer be any death; and there will no longer be any mourning, crying or pain; because the old order has passed away.”
5 Then the One sitting on the throne said, “Look! I am making everything new!” Also he said, “Write, ‘These words are true and trustworthy!’” 6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the ‘A’ and the ‘Z,’ the Beginning and the End. To anyone who is thirsty I myself will give water free of charge from the Fountain of Life. 7 He who wins the victory will receive these things, and I will be his God, and he will be my son.

Even before God made the earth, He had a plan for each of us. But His plan for us does not stop here on earth. God's plan continues throughout eternity.
Adam and Eve sinned and rebelled against God. We are like Adam and Eve. We sin, too. That's why God sent Jesus to die for all of us. Through Jesus and His death on the cross, we have the hope of living forever with God.
We can clearly see God's plan in our Bible verses today. "Now God's home is with people. He will live with them. They will be his people. God himself will be with them and will be their God" (verse 3b). God will live with us forever. It will be a great time of happiness and peace.
Can you imagine living without death, sadness, crying or pain? That will be so wonderful! God wants you to follow Him and live with Him forever. Share that Good News with someone today!
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give free water from the spring of the water of life to anyone who is thirsty. All those who win the victory will receive all this."[Revelation 21:6b-7a]
PRAYER: Father, I look forward to living forever with You. In Jesus' name. Amen. -------
