Pastor Penny Ellwood's eNote for Friday, 12 May 2017 of The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Blue Springs in Blue Springs, Missouri, United States

Hello Resurrection Blue Springs,

I hope you are doing well on this beautiful Friday morning. I received an exciting email this week about our Zoe Hope Companion partnership. You’ll remember that several weeks ago we invited you join us in helping support a group of orphan children from Malawi through ZOE. ZOE gathers orphans and vulnerable young people into mutually-supportive working groups and provides them with life skills training and resources for a three year period. The group members work together to pull one another out of extreme poverty and into a sustainable future, while living in their own community. As partners we provide not only the resources but prayer and encouragement to help them believe that they are capable of great things. We also hope to provide that encouragement in person in a year or so with a trip to Malawi to meet our working group. I’ll share a picture and more of the details about our group on Sunday.
This weekend, we'll continue our series on The Birds and The Bees by focusing on the dreaded ’Talk.’ The conversation about how babies are made that all parents should have with their children. Pastor Adam spent some time with moms from our congregation listening to their experiences of both giving and hearing the talk. What he found out is how unsuccessful and challenging this conversation tends to be. Join us as we offer some tips on how to discuss topics like relationships and intimacy. It is Mother's Day too, so we will have a special token for every woman in attendance to acknowledge the special women and mother-figures who have been a part of making us who we are today. Plan to join us for worship and invite one of these special women to join you!
Make sure you take a look below at this summer's mini-camp dates to get them on your calendar and watch in the coming week or two for the fun activities and events we have planned for this summer. See the mini-camp dates and other ways to get connected to the life of our congregation below . . .
