"Travel (1)" for Friday, 12 May 2017 from Deaf Devo of the Deaf Missions in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United State with the Bible Reading: Matthew 11:25-30 Matthew 11:25 It was at that time that Yeshua said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you concealed these things from the sophisticated and educated and revealed them to ordinary folks. 26 Yes, Father, I thank you that it pleased you to do this.
27 “My Father has handed over everything to me. Indeed, no one fully knows the Son except the Father, and no one fully knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.
28 “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.[Matthew 11:29 Jeremiah 6:16] 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”-------
When I travel, I usually check one bag with the airlines. Many airlines today charge a fee to check bags. But if my bag weighs over 50 pounds, I must pay an extra charge. I don't want to pay an extra charge so I pack only what I need for my trip.
As we go through our lives, God does not want us to carry around things we do not need - like worry and fear. He wants us to be free of these extra burdens. In our Bible verses Jesus said, "Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest" (verse 28).
Jesus does not want us to let our worries and fears distract us from following Him. We need to give our worries and fears to Jesus. Then we can be free to grow in Him and enjoy His blessings.
What burdens are you carrying around today? Give them to Jesus. Let Him give you comfort and rest.
"I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest. Yes, the teaching that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give
you to carry is light."[Matthew 11:29b-30]
PRAYER: God, I give my burdens to You. In Jesus' name. Amen.
