Advance Joy on #GivingTuesday for Wednesday, 24 October 2018 from The Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church in Atlanta, Georgia, United States

#GIVEUMC November 27, 2018
THERE IS JOY IN MAKING A NEW FRIEND. FRIENDS MAKE OUR JOURNEY THAT MUCH EASIER, ALLOWING US TO EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN IN UNFAMILIAR PLACES.
This joy leads to relationships, which are the cornerstone of our work and success. Missionaries and volunteers don’t go into communities to fix problems on behalf of others – they go to be in ministry with the local community. They go to learn, listen and serve as witnesses of God’s transforming grace and power.
MAKE A CONNECTION
ADDRESSING INJUSTICE IN SOUTH KOREA
Arsene and Trisha, two Global Mission Fellows, embody this mindset in their work with communities in South Korea. They and 107 other Fellows work alongside their peers to address injustice across the world.
WATCH THEIR STORY
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT IN CAMBODIA
Originally from the Philippines, Ken Cruz is a missionary in Cambodia focusing on community development. Out of his experiences, a personal philosophy of servant-leadership has taken root: meeting the needs of others as they work together.

PROVIDING ESSENTIAL SERVICES IN KENYA
Celinne Mencias, a nurse practitioner, volunteered for three months in the town of Maua in Kenya. There, she and other medical professionals provided essential services to the rapidly-growing community.
