On October 23, 2018, the Judicial Council of The United Methodist Church will meet in Zurich.
Oral arguments will be live-streamed (on Zurich time). In the U.S., these can be viewed online or on Facebook beginning at 2:30 AM ET (11:30 PM PT) on October 23rd.
The nine individuals — clergy and laity — who sit on the United Methodist Judicial Council function as a United Methodist "Supreme Court." This body will decide, among other critical issues, on an appeal of the Rev. David Wayne Meredith from the decision of the North Central Jurisdictional Committee on Appeals as well as the constitutionality of the three plans before the delegates of the 2019 called General Conference.
The Judicial Council’s rulings on the plans are of particular importance to General Conference 2019 because they will help us to know which parts of each plan can be considered and which parts should be dismissed due to unconstitutionality.
