Reflecting God’s Devotions for Holy Living – Monday, 3 February
2014 “God Will Remain Faithful” Scripture 1 Corinthians 1: Salutation
1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of
God, and our brother Sosthenes,
2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who are
sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, together with all those who in
every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord[a] and
ours:
3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus
Christ.
4 I give thanks to my[b] God always for you because of the grace
of God that has been given you in Christ Jesus, 5 for in every way you have
been enriched in him, in speech and knowledge of every kind— 6 just as the
testimony of[c] Christ has been strengthened among you— 7 so that you are not
lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revealing of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 8 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you may be blameless
on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 God is faithful; by him you were called
into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

“God Will Remain Faithful” by Richard H. Neiderhiser
One of the great tourist attractions in North America is in
Yellowstone National Park. It is the geyser named Old Faithful, discovered
September 18, 1870. Many consider it to be one of the most predictable
occurrences on Earth. It erupts every 91 minutes. It is a faithful event. That
God is faithful is not a meaningless assumption. It is a vivid reality for all
who trust in Him for salvation through Christ our Lord.
Challenge to Holy Living
Today’s scripture passage contains some lively words of
assurance and God’s faithfulness; words like “to those sanctified in Christ
Jesus and called to be his holy people” and, “He will also keep you firm to the
end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
The apostle Paul presumes a condition on the part of the
Christian to be vital to God’s faithfulness. It is clearly a lifestyle of
sanctification, a fellowship of holy people. The word blameless could be translated
unimpeachable. Blameless does not mean faultless. As human beings we have our
faults–some inherited, some acquired over a lifetime, but all rendered
unimpeachable through the saving power of Jesus Christ. Indeed, God remains
faithful!
Hymn for Today:
“What A Friend We Have In Jesus” by Joseph M. Scriven
1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.
Thought for Today:
“Salvation is not found in a mere idea or ideal but in a person:
Jesus the Christ” (Session Truth)!
Prayer Needs:
Many people in Romania will come to know Jesus the Christ
(Yeshua the Messiah) and receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
