Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - “God’s Majesty– Monday, 10 March 2014
Scripture: Psalm 104: 1 Bless Yahweh, my soul.
Yahweh, my God, you are very great.
You are clothed with honor and majesty.
2 He covers himself with light as with a garment.
He stretches out the heavens like a curtain.
3 He lays the beams of his rooms in the waters.
He makes the clouds his chariot.
He walks on the wings of the wind.
4 He makes his messengers[a] winds;
his servants flames of fire.
5 He laid the foundations of the earth,
that it should not be moved forever.
6 You covered it with the deep as with a cloak.
The waters stood above the mountains.
7 At your rebuke they fled.
At the voice of your thunder they hurried away.
8 The mountains rose,
the valleys sank down,
to the place which you had assigned to them.
9 You have set a boundary that they may not pass over;
that they don’t turn again to cover the earth.
10 He sends springs into the valleys.
They run among the mountains.
11 They give drink to every animal of the field.
The wild donkeys quench their thirst.
12 The birds of the sky nest by them.
They sing among the branches.
13 He waters the mountains from his rooms.
The earth is filled with the fruit of your works.
14 He causes the grass to grow for the livestock,
and plants for man to cultivate,
that he may produce food out of the earth:
15 wine that makes glad the heart of man,
oil to make his face to shine,
and bread that strengthens man’s heart.
16 Yahweh’s trees are well watered,
the cedars of Lebanon, which he has planted;
17 where the birds make their nests.
The stork makes its home in the cypress trees.
18 The high mountains are for the wild goats.
The rocks are a refuge for the rock badgers.
19 He appointed the moon for seasons.
The sun knows when to set.
20 You make darkness, and it is night,
in which all the animals of the forest prowl.
21 The young lions roar after their prey,
and seek their food from God.
22 The sun rises, and they steal away,
and lay down in their dens.
23 Man goes out to his work,
to his labor until the evening.

a. Psalm 104:4 or, angels
“God’s Majesty” by Judith A. Schwanz
Fashion is big news. The Internet, magazines, newspapers are filled with photos, headlines and articles describing creative designs, beautiful fabrics and rich colors. Celebrities pose at social events and on “red carpets” proudly displaying their clothing and expensive jewels.
The Psalmist told us that God is clothed in splendor and majesty; God would top any “best-dressed” list. We see the amazing creation power of God. Not limited to lengths of fabric, God wraps himself in light!
This Psalm reminds us of God’s greatness and God’s provision. Our most beautiful mansions dwarf beside God’s residence – the heavens. Our fastest race cars are no match for the winds and chariots of clouds. God created the very foundations of the earth. Verses 11-13 assures us that God provides water, shelter, and food to sustain all living creatures. In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus reminded His listeners that God would provide for their needs; they should not worry, but should seek the Kingdom of God.
Take a moment today to walk outside and consider God’s handiwork. Praise God, the Almighty Creator who is clothed in dazzling light. Commit yourself to trust in God for your daily needs.
Hymn for Today:
“Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise” by Walter Chalmers Smith
1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.
2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
thy justice like mountains high soaring above
thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
3. To all, life thou givest, to both great and small;
in all life thou livest, the true life of all;
we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
and wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.
4. Thou reignest in glory; thou dwellest in light;
thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
all laud we would render: O help us to see
'tis only the splendor of light hideth thee.
Thought for Today:
“For Yahweh Most High is awesome. He is a great King over all the earth.” (Psalm 47:2).
Prayer Needs:
Many people in Guam will come to know Jesus the Christ (Yeshua the Messiah) and receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
