Pastors and Leaders from across the Philippines met in Baguio City, Northern
Philippines, April 21-25, for the 2014 Pastors and Leaders Conference.
Special prayer was held for the emerging young leaders of the church.
It was truly a blessed time as Regional Director, Dr. Mark Louw, brought daily
messages challenging the leaders to step out of their comfort zones, reaffirm their commitment to the call of our Lord to Go and Make Disciples, and in so doing, embrace, engage, train up, and empower our young emerging leaders within the church.
"If we don't allow our young leaders the opportunity to engage with the church, we will lose them," said Louw. "We are in a very critical time for the church."
Dr. Mark Louw focuses conference on Prayer!
Thursday night's service ended with a specific time of prayer, where Louw asked the conference attendees to take seriously the need to, as a church, humble ourselves and seek the Lord for guidance.
The theme of PALCON 2014 was taken from Matthew 28:19-20 "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
More times of praise, prayer, and worship.
It was a very fitting conclusion to the prior week's National Emerging Leaders Summit. We are praying that those who were present will not forget the challenge, but will go forth with a renewed commitment to take the Gospel beyond their walls and comfort zones, to places where it has not yet been.
And of course...fellowship!

If the church is to have an impact in the years ahead, it must make an intentional effort on Rooting, Renewing, and then Releasing, the Emerging Young Leaders of the Church!
Global Director of Nazarene Youth International
This was the theme of the recent National Emerging Leaders Summit held April 16-19, on the campus of Philippine Nazarene College. More than fifty young emerging Nazarene leaders from across eleven districts of the Philippines met to discuss how together they could become a Kingdom impacting team!
Global Director for Nazarene Youth International, Rev. Gary Hartke,
was the guest speaker for the event and provided challenging messages on breaking free to become the leaders that God would have the emerging youth to be!
One of the Breakout groups..
Throughout the Summit, the young emerging leaders were assembled into three "breakout groups" which were lead by senior pastors who helped to guide discussion and serve as mentors.
The young people were given instruction from the Scripture, core values, doctrine, justice, peace and reconciliation and founding history of the Church of the Nazarene
Being "Released" into the community..
(Rooted). There was then a tremendous time of re-commitment as they shared communion together and served each other in a very heart touching, impactful, ceremony of washing each others' feet (Renewing). As the third component of the summit, the emerging leaders spent one day going into the local communities in their breakout groups, assessing needs, and then a second day working alongside local churches in assisting with the implementation of ways to meet the identified needs (Releasing).
Renewal
At the finish of the summit, a Statement of Declaration was formulated and presented to the District Leadership.
We thank God for His anointing and presence during the Summit, and for the many young emerging leaders who have made a commitment to be the future of the Church of the Nazarene in the Philippines! To God Be the Glory!

iCONNECT | NATIONAL EMERGING LEADERS SUMMIT, April 16-19, 2014,
Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City.
We, the emerging leaders in the Church of the Nazarene Philippines, desire to see young people empowered holistically, embracing our core values, and engaging the church to be catalyst in transforming communities. We are resolved to be rooted in the Word, committed to the heritage of the Church of the Nazarene, renewed by the Holy Spirit, and released to make Christlike Disciples in the nations.
As a result of the summit, we hereby declare the following:
• We value each Nazarene youth leader in the Body of Christ as they connect to the world with Jesus as model in building relationship.
• We renew our commitment as young leaders to the vision of the pioneers of our church
that “The Church of the Nazarene be true to its commission; not great and elegant buildings, but to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and wipe away the tears of
sorrowing and gather jewels for His diadem.” (Dr. Phineas Breese)
• That as young leaders, we adhere to the core values of the church of the Nazarene.
As Christian young people, we confessed our faith in Christ, we are united with all believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and we celebrate our unique contribution in building the Kingdom of God.
As Holiness people, we believe that we are created in the image of God, empowered by the Holy Spirit to demonstrate Christlike character by loving God above all and loving our neighbors.
As Missional people, we are committed to go and make Christlike disciples in the nations, living a lifestyle of compassion, and being advocate of justice, peace and reconciliation.
• We acknowledge that God uses ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things
and calls leaders to serve not to be served, to be faithful to little things and submit to the body of Christ.
• We honor the labor and value the wisdom of the previous generation of leaders in the
Church of the Nazarene.
• We desire to effectively reach out this generation and the next for Christ.
• We need disciplers to mentor us and to enhance our leadership capabilities.
• We believe that there is a need for space or venue for intentional conversation
regarding current critical issues affecting the church and the community, and for
appropriate response within the context of our times.
• We ask our senior church leaders to trust us and give us the opportunity to take the
church to the next level as God leads us.
We hereby pledge to the best of our ability, strength and resources within our means,
to commit to this declaration by doing appropriate action that is glorifying to God.
