Kansas City, Missouri,
United States - Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - “Perfect Advice” – Saturday,
19 April 2014 - Scripture: Psalm 22: 17 I can count all of my bones.
They look and stare at
me.
18 They divide my
garments among them.
They cast lots for my clothing.
19 But don’t be far off,
Yahweh.
You are my help: hurry to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from
the sword,
my precious life from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the
lion’s mouth!
Yes, from the horns of the wild oxen, you
have answered me.
22 I will declare your
name to my brothers.
Among the assembly, I will praise you.
23 You who fear Yahweh,
praise him!
All you descendants of Jacob, glorify him!
Stand in awe of him, all you descendants of
Israel!
24 For he has not
despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted,
Neither has he hidden his face from him;
but when he cried to him, he heard.
25 Of you comes my
praise in the great assembly.
I will pay my vows before those who fear him.
26 The humble shall eat
and be satisfied.
They shall praise Yahweh who seek after
him.
Let your hearts live forever.
27 All the ends of the
earth shall remember and turn to Yahweh.
All the relatives of the nations shall
worship before you.
28 For the kingdom is
Yahweh’s.
He is the ruler over the nations.
29 All the rich ones of
the earth shall eat and worship.
All those who go down to the dust shall bow
before him,
even he who can’t keep his soul alive.
“Perfect Advice” by Cynthia

The toughest trial of my
life was my husband’s suicide. After that catastrophic event, my greatest need
was wisdom to navigate even the ordinary tasks of life. Proverbs rose to rank
among my favorite books of the Bible.
“Trust in the LORD with
all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit
to him, and he will make your paths straight” (3:5-6). These two verses led to
her total surrender to God. Lacking in trust and confused by well-meaning
offers of advice, I knew the only One I could truly depend upon was God
himself. Only He could provide the desperately needed wisdom and strength. And
He did!
In Proverbs 2 and 8,
wisdom is personified as a woman. She positions herself on the busiest
intersection in the city square. She calls out to passers-by as they walk to
work and go about their day, fulfilling their agendas. God’s representative
longs to divinely guide and advise, but no one stops to listen.
Such a powerful
metaphor! God, the Creator of the universe, wants to share His wisdom with us?
It’s probably a good idea to stop and listen to His perfect advice!
Hymn for Today:
“In the Garden” by C.
Austin Miles
1. I come to the garden
alone,
While the dew is still
on the roses;
And the voice I hear,
falling on my ear,
The Son of God
discloses.
Refrain:
And He walks with me,
and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His
own,
And the joy we share as
we tarry there,
None other has ever
known.
2. He speaks, and the
sound of His voice
Is so sweet the birds
hush their singing;
And the melody that He
gave to me
Within my heart is
ringing.
Refrain:
And He walks with me,
and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His
own,
And the joy we share as
we tarry there,
None other has ever
known.
3. I'd stay in the
garden with Him
Tho' the night around me
be falling;
But He bids me go; thro'
the voice of woe,
His voice to me is
calling.
Refrain:
And He walks with me,
and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His
own,
And the joy we share as
we tarry there,
None other has ever
known.
“In the Garden” by Bob
Dylan
1. When they came for
Him in the garden, did they know?
When they came for Him
in the garden, did they know?
Did they know He was the
Son of God, did they know that He was Lord?
Did they hear when He
told Peter, “Peter, put up your sword”?
When they came for Him
in the garden, did they know?
When they came for Him
in the garden, did they know?
2. When He spoke to them
in the city, did they hear?
When He spoke to them in
the city, did they hear?
Nicodemus came at night
so he wouldn’t be seen by men
Saying, “Master, tell me
why a man must be born again”
When He spoke to them in
the city, did they hear?
When He spoke to them in
the city, did they hear?
3. When He healed the
blind and crippled, did they see?
When He healed the blind
and crippled, did they see?
When He said, “Pick up
your bed and walk, why must you criticize?
Same thing My Father do,
I can do likewise”
When He healed the blind
and crippled, did they see?
When He healed the blind
and crippled, did they see?
4. Did they speak out
against Him, did they dare?
Did they speak out
against Him, did they dare?
The multitude wanted to
make Him king, put a crown upon His head
Why did He slip away to
a quiet place instead?
Did they speak out
against Him, did they dare?
Did they speak out
against Him, did they dare?
5. When He rose from the
dead, did they believe?
When He rose from the
dead, did they believe?
He said, “All power is
given to Me in heaven and on earth”
Did they know right then
and there what the power was worth?
When He rose from the
dead, did they believe?
When He rose from the
dead, did they believe?
Thought for Today:
“The Lord Yahweh has
given me the tongue of those who are taught,
that I may know how to sustain with words
him who is weary.
He wakens morning by
morning,
he wakens my ear to hear as those who are
taught.” (Isaiah 50:4).
Prayer Needs:
Many people in Argentina
will come to know Jesus the Christ (Yeshua the Messiah) and receive the
fullness of the Holy Spirit.
