Implementing the Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the National Governors Association's Better Bottom Line: Employing People with DisabilitiesLessons from the Front Line Jan 13 at 1:30 Eastern Time Questions will be taken from participants after the formal presentation Speaker: Rita Landgraf, Secretary of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Note: Better Bottom Line was created with the leadership of Governor Jack Markell of Delaware (in whose cabinet she serves) when he served as Chair of the National Governors Association. Many credit that work, which Sec. Landgraf leads in Delaware, as inspiring bipartisan national movement on employment for people with disabilities. Her work is on the cutting edge of best practices, offering proven models that other states can follow in their own implementation in order to achieve win-win-win solutions for people with disabilities, employers and taxpayers alike. As Secretary, Landgraf leads the principal agency charged with keeping Delawareans healthy, ensuring they get the health care they need, and providing children, families, and seniors with the essential human services they depend on. She also oversees one of the largest departments in the Delaware government, with an annual budget of more than $1 billion. Under her leadership, DHSS has provided a wide range of services from health care to child care, to benefits assistance to help families weather the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, all while helping to coordinate the State response to health care reform efforts and responding to the fast-changing aging demographics of Delaware. She is co-chair of the Governor's Commission on Building Access to Community-Based Services, Chair of the Delaware Health Fund Advisory Council, and is a member of the Advisory Committee for the University of Delaware's College of Health Sciences' Health Science Alliance, a member of the Delaware Hispanic Commission's Health and Social Services Subcommittee, and a member of the Delaware Health Care Commission. Best practices and success in inclusive employment in the hospitality sector Feb 19 at 1:30 Eastern Time Speakers: David Scott is Director of Sales at the award winning Embassy Suites and the Courtyard by Marriott Hotels in Omaha-La Vista, Nebraska. The hotels are model inclusive employers which have garnered recognition by the White House, the Nebraska Governor and in numerous media outlets. Moreover, inclusion was not done for charity – it was done for, and remains, great for business. Originally from Sydney, Australia, David has worked in tourism and hospitality for over 30 years.    Valentini Kalargyrou,  Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Hospitality Management in the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire. Her outstanding and scientifically done work on best practices in the hospitality industry has been widely published in top-tier reviewed journals.
