Saint Paul School of Theology "President's eUpdate--Plans for 2015" for Monday, 22 December 2014

Weekly President's eUpdate
December 22, 2014

Dear Saint Paul Community,

The classes are over until 2015. Winter Term begins on January 5. The Saint Paul offices will closeDecember 24 and reopen on January 5. Please join me in wishing our extraordinary faculty and staff a restful and renewing holiday break. Blessings to the students as they enjoy a couple of weeks without commutes, video links and reading assignments.

There are a number of priorities for 2015:
  1. Develop the Strategic Plan.
  2. Expand student recruitment and grow enrollment.
  3. Increase the number of donors and annual donations.
  4. Complete the Higher Learning Commission self-study.
  5. Renew connections with alumni/ae.

The Strategic Planning Team is currently being recruited and will begin its work in late January.

Brian Green-Young has announced the newest member of the student recruitment team. Joanna Chenoweth will begin work on January 12. She is a graduate of Oklahoma City University and Drew Theological School. Brian, Deana Brink and Joanna will be the "recruitment faces" of Saint Paul in 2015. If you know someone who is considering seminary, please refer them to the team.

David Sisney is working with Horizons Stewardship to conduct a development audit. We anticipate their wise counsel will assist us to change some processes and add some new ones. We are eager to engage current donors and alumni/ae as we explore some new scholarship programs.

Elaine Robinson and the academic team will oversee the Higher Learning Commission self-study. Professor Jeanne Hoeft will serve as the coordinator of the project.

The most exciting announcement is from Ginger Rothhaas who is the coordinator of the Alumni/ae Office. Some of you know of her work through the phone-a-thon conducted this fall. Ginger has designed a model to renew and strengthen relationships with our alums in the heartland and beyond.

We are inviting all alumni/ae and donors to attend a Holy Conversation (HC) in 2015. It will be a time of sharing, looking at the future of theological education, and responding to any and all questions about Saint Paul.

The first Holy Conversations are scheduled for:
January 13 @ Boston Ave UMC, Tulsa, Oklahoma
January 29 @ Old Mission UMC, Fairway, KS
February 5 @ Campbell UMC, Springfield, MO.

Please select the Holy Conversation that fits your location and schedule. I look forward to being with you. If you'd like to assist Ginger by hosting one of the future Holy Conversation, please contact her at ginger.rothhaas@spst.edu.

More announcements to come in January! Blessings to you for 2015 and thanks for your support of Saint Paul.

On the journey with you,

Rev. H. Sharon Howell, President
Saint Paul School of Theology
