The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown of Kansas City, Missouri, United States An Enote fom Pastor Scott Chrostek for Friday, 23 January 2015

Friday, January 23, 2015,
Greetings RezDowntowners,
I hope this message finds you doing well.  It is great to be writing you after what has been a fantastic week.  On Monday night we had a great evening out on the Plaza with well over 100 other RezDowntowners watching Selma.  It was a powerful movie and a great way to live into MLK Day with the community.  As the show was preparing to start we ended up being able to treat several people from the neighborhood to join us at this sold out show as well.  It was a great day and it was so fun to bless so many people in the process!
As I type I am preparing for the weekend ahead in worship as we continue our sermon series on “Half-Truths.”  This week we’ll be discussing how, “The Bible says it.  I believe it and that settles it.”  It will be a great opportunity to unpack how it is that we ought to read the Bible and how we should use it to draw us nearer to the life that really is life.  If ever you have struggled with reading and interpreting Scripture or if you have friends that have struggled with this, please join us in worship this weekend.  If you are able, please consider worshiping with us on Saturday or Sunday night or at our Grand location if you haven’t yet worshiped there.  In this way, you will help us to continue living into our purpose of building Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians.
Finally, this evening Wendy and I will be present at our Annual All-Church Gathering & Dinner.  This is a great opportunity to be a part of an annual gathering where we celebrate a year in mission and ministry at all of our campuses and then look ahead to where God might be leading us into the future. I want to invite you to join us there by registering here.  The dinner begins at 5pm in Leawood and the gathering actually starts at 6:00pm.  I hope you can join us!
In the meantime, here are several ways to get plugged into the life of this church:
