Holiness programming, delivered over the airwaves, literally sends the message of the redeeming love of Jesus around the world and listeners respond to Christ.
Visit the WMB Facebook page for the latest news, or the WMB website for promotional resources and other ministry information!
The offering received in local Nazarene churches is the life-blood of the WMB ministry. Because of it, Nazarene programs are able to stay on the air and tell the world about Jesus.
On-line contributions from a church or district for WMB can be submitted via the Funding the Mission website. Be sure to indicate the gift is for WMB.
"Put Positive Habits to Work for You"
A habit is any rote action you take based on a stimulus and leading to a reward. For example, when the alarm clock goes off, you get out of bed. Within a few minutes, you're eating breakfast. After awhile, you no longer think about it, you just do it. It is no exaggeration to say that habits are hardwired into your brain. Scientific research validates that concept; your habits are stored in a part of your brain called the basal ganglia.[1] That's why, when asked what you had for breakfast today or whether you brushed your teeth, you likely can't answer. You do these things without thinking about them.
The power of a habit is exactly that-it's something you do without thought or effort. That explains why bad habits are so hard to break, and why good habits are such a powerful force in your life. They function like an alarm clock-set it and forget it.
Here are some extremely powerful positive habits you should hardwire into your routine. Get them started, and they'll pay dividends for years to come.
Prayer
Make this the default setting in your life in two ways: (1) something you do daily before moving into work mode, and (2) your automatic response to any crisis. When you spend time centering yourself on God's mind and agenda, the default setting on your heart and emotions will be "calm."
Punctuality
It now seems fashionable to arrive a few minutes late, and tardiness is sometimes used as a badge of honor or a power move ("I'm so busy today!"). But it is a poor habit that stems from a scarcity mind-set ("I don't have enough time"). Successful people almost always arrive a few minutes early. They are respectful of their own time and that of others because they are focused on achievement.
Politeness
Politeness stems from a basic attitude of respect for others. We are polite when we see others as having equal value-or even greater value-than ourselves. Using words like please, thank you, yes sir, and no ma'am is a habit. It springs from a positive attitude, and it soon becomes second nature. For sure, our world could use a fresh baptism of politeness!
Physical Fitness Habits
The most frequent complaint that a primary care physician hears is "I'm tired." Much of the fatigue we feel stems from our poor habits with regard to self-care. We don't eat properly or exercise enough. Success in any area of life, including personal life, depends on having adequate energy. When you get consistent sleep, eat properly, maintain a healthy weight, and exercise regularly-you feel better! These positive habits don't guarantee happiness, but a good health regimen is a great predictor of future well-being.
I could list dozens more positive habits that grow organically from a positive attitude, things like writing your goals, planning your day, smiling, taking consistent time away from work, spending time outdoors, saving money, reading, and taking breaks during the day. You get the idea. Happy and successful people do positive things by routine, almost without thinking. These positive habits become the best predictor of their ongoing success.[Stan Toler]

GAS EXPLOSION AT PINES CITY CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE, BAGUIO CITY, PHILIPPINES
Baguio City, Philippines: Around 1:30pm local Philippine time, a gas explosion was reported at the Pines City Church of the Nazarene, in Baguio City, northern Philippines.
One worker “Frank” received extensive burns and has been hospitalized. Please commit to pray for Frank’s healing and complete recovery. There is simultaneously a praise, as one of the church members who was pregnant had just exited the room when the explosion occurred and she was unhurt.
Initial reports indicate that there was possibly a gas leak from a propane bottle emitting fumes and when a worker lit the stove in the kitchen, the fumes ignited.
“It was like a grenade went off in the church,” said one of the members. “The ceiling came down, windows and doors were blown out.”
Please commit to pray for Frank and the rest of the church family at Pines City Church of the Nazarene.
More information will be added as it becomes available.

PRAYER REQUESTED FOR FORMER ASIA-PACIFIC MISSIONARIES, THE MILLERS ***UPDATE!
Please keep George and Nancy Miller in your prayer as they settle back into life in the USA. They served nearly 27 years on the Asia-Pacific Region; 10 in Papua New Guinea, 15 in the Solomon Islands and the last 1 ½ years in the Philippines. Nancy was diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension while living in the Philippines, and has been on the prayer page several times. Although she had shown signs of improvement after returning to the USA, she recently was taken to the ER with Tachycardia and Atrial Fibrillation. They are attempting to readjust her medications to see if that will help.
George and Nancy just closed on a house this past week, amidst their speaking schedule, but the house needs some work before they can move in. With Nancy’s frail health, this is not going quite as fast as hoped.
Please pray that Nancy will gain strength and that the heart issues will improve so that she can continue the speaking schedule with George through the summer months. Please pray for peace and wisdom for George as he cares for Nancy and works on the house in between speaking engagements.
***Update as of 24 June 2016
Nancy writes:
The medication change got my heart back to a normal rhythm.
I am feeling much better today and more hopeful that I can get back to where I was. I am able to rest and sleep better than I have in over a week.
Thank you for your continued prayers for George and Nancy.[Download Prayer Requested for Former Asia-Pacific Missionaries, the Millers ***Update! as PDF]

PRAYER NEEDED FOR MISSIONARY FAMILY IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA – *** ANSWERED PRAYER!!
Papua New Guinea: Please pray for missionaries Jeff and Susan Myers who are scheduled to fly to the U.S.A. for home assignment on June 15. There has been unrest in Papua New Guinea where the Myers serve and this has caused many offices to close, including the office that is processing the documents they need to travel. It is scheduled to be closed until June. 14.
Pray that Jeff and Susan will receive their paperwork and can fly out as planned on June 15. Pray also that as they wait, the Lord will give them extraordinary peace.
Who are the Myers…
Jeffrey and Susan Myers are missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene assigned to Kudjip, Papua New Guinea, where they have served since June 2001.
Jeffrey graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1987 with a B.A. in communications. He is an Ordained Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. His early years in PNG were involved in developing Nazarene Radio Ministry which is now completely run by one of our National pastors. Jeff is currently serving as the Melanesia and South Pacific Fields Church Development Coordinator. His role focuses on further developing the church in PNG specifically working with our church leaders and assisting the Field Strategy Coordinator.
Susan graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 1989 with a B.A. in biology. She received her Medical degree from The Medical College of Ohio at Toledo in 1993 and completed a pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Akron in 1996. Susan serves as a physician at Nazarene Hospital in Kudjip. She cares for patients of all ages in the pediatric ward, outpatient department and the emergency room. She has specific interests in identifying and caring for children with various forms of heart disease and in diagnosing and treating the many women in PNG with cervical cancer.
Jeffrey and Susan have two children, Jessica and Ethan. Jessica is a student at Mt Vernon Nazarene University. Ethan is nearing the end of his high school career and intends to join his sister at MVNU.
ANSWERED PRAYER!!! 14-JUNE-2016
Jeff Myers sent in the following update this morning!
“I am back from immigrations now and sitting at the missionary guest house where I am staying while in Port Moresby (POM). God is good and with the help of our liaison and an old friend we met while waiting at the immigration office, God worked and I now have our passports in my possession! We are good to go! We are very grateful to all who have been praying for the success of getting our completed passports and visas before we were scheduled to leave tomorrow. I thank the Lord for leading the way in getting them. I thought about the song, “The Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all we have to do is follow.”
Thank you all for your prayers! To God Be The Glory!!!![Download Prayer Needed for Missionary Family in Papua New Guinea - *** Answered Prayer!! as PDF]

Getting their passports re-issued is very difficult in a short time frame, and after obtaining emergency passports they would still need a visa stamp from their host country which can, in many cases, take days.

Greetings, Global Mission team!
I'm very pleased to announce that Rev. Dr. Nell Becker Sweeden will join Global Mission as the director of Nazarene Compassionate Ministries (NCM) on June 27, 2016, and will be relocating to Kansas City this September.
In addition, the board of NCM Inc. unanimously voted to elect Nell as CEO. We believe that her leadership over both areas of NCM will continue to build a great level of synergy for this ministry of the Church of the Nazarene.
Nell has served in various capacities with NCM over the past 12 years, most recently as education coordinator. Her areas of expertise include international development, educational initiatives, and theology. While serving as education coordinator, Nell also served as assistant professor of theology and Richard B. Parker co-chair of Wesleyan Theology at George Fox Evangelical Seminary.
Her recent accomplishments have included the publication of Church on the Way: Hospitality and Migration.
Becker Sweeden has a strong call and passionate heart for compassionate ministry.
"I am fascinated by how Jesus' compassion is described in the Scriptures as an urge in his gut, or a compulsion, to respond with love to people who are suffering," Becker Sweeden said. "A key piece of this for me is continually placing myself in the margins of our world to live out Christlikeness within communities and through relationships."

NEW DIRECTOR OF NAZARENE COMPASSIONATE MINISTRIES ANNOUNCED!
Greetings, Global Mission team!
I’m very pleased to announce that Rev.

Her recent accomplishments have included the publication of Church on the Way: Hospitality and Migration.
Nell studied Spanish and theology at Point Loma Nazarene University and holds a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary. Additionally, Nell completed her Doctor of Philosophy at Boston University in practical theology with specializations in Wesleyan theology and church and society.
Nell is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene.
I am deeply appreciative of the gift that Nell has been to our church. She has the unique ability to bring clarity around the connection of what we believe theologically and how we lovingly serve the world. This practical engagement demonstrates not only Nell’s training but also her genuine heart for the church and relentless pursuit of the heart of Christ. I am excited for Nell’s leadership, for the ways in which she will bring great expression to why we serve, why we love, and why we follow the Nazarene. As Nell was concluding her process of discernment, she shared with me how this opportunity has brought her back to the core of her vocational calling. Praise the Lord! It has been thrilling to see the way God has led Nell to accepting this role, and I look forward to the ways God will continue to use her to lead Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
Join me as we pray for Nell’s transition, pray for her family as they move to Kansas City, celebrate her arrival, and welcome her to our team!

Disciplemaking in the U.S. has become a major challenge in recent years, especially among the Millennial Generation (adults born after 1980). The Pew Research Center reports that Millennials are much less likely than prior generations to embrace Christianity, and more than one in three Millennials now say they have no religion - a 10 point increase since just 2007.
The declining number of young Christians and the growing ranks of the non-religious are due largely to higher losses of young adults raised in Christian households. Evangelicals, like Catholics and mainline protestants, have seen heavy recent losses among young adults. According to the Pew research, there are about one-third fewer evangelical Christians among the Millennial generation compared to their grandparents' generation.
The Next Generation Project of Indianapolis, Indiana, is actively working to meet this growing challenge. Larry Barnett, director of the Project, wants to help congregations be effective in making disciples of the next generation. He hopes to help the next generation thrive and grow in their Christian faith as they transition into adulthood.

The Next Generation Project is a research initiative to understand why so many young adults are now leaving Christianity. Over the past five years, through three large national studies, the Project has explored the reasons behind the higher recent losses of young people from Christianity. Barnett is now applying the insights from this research to training U.S. Christians to become more effective in discipling the next generation.
Next month, through Sunday School and Discipleship Ministry International’s the Discipleship Place, Barnett will host two webinars based on his research. On July 7, he will host “Why Younger Americans are Leaving Christianity,” where he will discuss the major drivers of the recent decline of Christianity among younger Americans. On July 21, Barnett will host “The Hidden Key to Effective Disciple-Making,” which will detail practical insights from this research for helping the next generation thrive and grow in their faith.
The webinars are offered free of charge. Registration is available through thediscipleshipplace.org.[SDMI USA/Canada]

Boundary noun, bound·ary \ˈbau̇n-d(ə-)rē\
1. : something that shows where an area ends and another area begins.
2. : a point or limit that indicates where two things become different.
What is it?
A boundary, defined by Dr. Brene Brown is, "what's ok and what's not ok." I like to think of boundaries as that which I say "no" to in order to protect what I've said "yes" to. It's a place of accountability that tests my integrity to my core values. Boundaries are proactive, not reactive.
Boundaries allow us to direct our energy and attention toward that which we've identified as our core values and purpose.
The article goes on to offer helpful ideas about how to clarify our core values. And once we have done this, we can can see what changes may need to be made to set healthy boundaries.
Some excellent insights and tools for healthy ministry and life!

Your brother,
Verne Ward
(Church on the Way: Hospitality and Migration)이라는 책의 출판이 있습니다.
