Resurrection Blue Springs,
It was a perfect evening last Sunday night for our hayride and bonfire at the Wolverton Farm. We had a great turnout and kept Randy busy making the circle through the pasture with the tractor and the hayrack. The sunset gave us a great show too. If you get a chance, thank the Wolverton family for their wonderful hospitality in making this possible for us every year. It's great fun and a wonderful way to connect with others from church. I got a chance to visit with several families new to Resurrection.
This Sunday afternoon will be another great time for making connections as we hold our annual Fall Festival. We've extended a wide net of invitations and our Facebook page says we should have an excellent turn out this year. We'll have trunk or treating, a balloon artist, a photo booth to capture the costumes, inflatables, games, a cupcake walk, and hot dogs for all. I always love to see the kids in their costumes and how creative some of our congregation is when it comes to the trunk decorating. I hope you'll plan to come out and join us for the fun.
Last Sunday we had a great response to our commitment Sunday with 85 households offering their financial pledges for 2017. According to these first pledges, you have taken to heart our call to step up your commitments for this year and I am grateful to see the responses. Our prayer is that you will continue to experience the blessing, the peace and the joy that comes from knowing, loving and serving God through generosity. This giving will enable us to fulfill our vision to change more lives for Christ, transform our community in new ways and provide greater leadership to do our part to renew the church!
We will continue to receive pledges in the coming weeks and are hoping to surpass the 200 mark in the number of pledges this year, so we have a ways yet to go. Thank you to those who made their commitments and "stepped up" for this year. If you haven't already done so, please take a moment now and complete your pledge card and offer it to God in worship this Sunday, or go now and complete your card online at cor.org/stewardship. Please be sure to choose the Blue Springs Campus when you complete your card and don't forget to pick up your 2017 mug in the back of the Sanctuary this Sunday as our thank you to you.

This Sunday in worship we'll have a way for you to make your other commitments to stepping up concrete by offering you a chance to sign up to "try on" one of our serving experiences. We're hosting a "First Serve Fair" after worship at both services. You can get information about the many serving opportunities on our campus and sign up to try one out by shadowing someone else already in the position. This way you can see if it's a fit for your personality and gifts. We'll have a free t-shirt for anyone who is willing to try out a first serve. We'll also have t-shirts for everyone currently serving in any role at church. We consider the folks who give of their time and talents to be superheroes and we're grateful for their commitment to shine the light of Christ through their actions. We'll also have other serving and giving opportunities available through our JOY in serving for the holidays. You can check out this table too.

This Sunday Mark Maschger will be sharing more about the Good Life as we explore the importance of missions. I hope you'll join us and invite a friend for another special day in worship!
I can’t wait to see you this weekend and in the meantime, take a look at all the upcoming activities and events . . .

Be a part of this 3-week study, where each participant will have access to a 21-day devotional complete with daily reading, personal reflection questions and practical ideas for living out our faith. The Wesley Challenge content is based upon the famous 21 questions of John and Charles Wesley’s notably nicknamed group, The Holy Club. The questions help us examine our relationship to God, Self and Others. The purpose of the Wesley 21 Day Challenge is to go beyond mere words and develop the spiritual habits that lead us toward a thriving Christian life. Join a small group or create your own group of 2-3 other couples or singles. Engage in the daily GPS Guide readings and connect through Resurrection’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for helpful prompts. Sign up at Guest Services or online.
