Dear Hearts,
We’ll be discussing Ch. 4 of Bart Ehrman’s book, Jesus Before the Gospels. These are long chapters; let’s concentrate on pp. 131-150. The author has spent several chapters discussing memories and the distortions we make.
1. How is it that people can have the same experience, yet remember it so differently?
2. Those who were on the recent trip to Israel, how do your remembrances differ from your colleagues?
3. What are your memories of the death of John F. Kennedy? What were you doing when you learned of his assassination that day?
4. Have you and a sibling or close friend ever discussed something that happened many years ago? How were your remembrances different?
5. Select a passage in our reading which speaks to you. Share it with us.
I look forward to our usual insightful discussion.
