Hello Resurrection Blue Springs!
It feels a little more like February on this Friday morning. I have to admit with the warm weather we’ve been having my heart is ready for spring, even as I pray at the same time that it waits for the right timing. In a sense, this is what our Lenten season, which begins next Wednesday, is all about. We long for Easter and resurrection but we need these 40 days leading up to it to prepare our hearts and minds. This season offers us the chance to turn back towards God and to begin to shore up those places in our lives where we fall short of living a life that reflects God’s love. This season is a reminder of how much we need God’s grace in our lives.
I hope you will commit to growing with us through this time of preparation. We will be offering opportunities to be a part of a small group Lenten study, as well as providing special worship services designed to foster an understanding of this important season from Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday. We’ll also invite our community to join us for a great celebration of Easter with a community-wide Egg hunt and special Palm Sunday and Easter worship services! Mark your calendars with these dates now and join us in preparing for Easter at Resurrection.
• Ash Wednesday Worship | March 1| 7 pm
• Saturday Easter Egg Hunt | April 8 | 10-11:30 am |
• Maundy Thursday | April 13 | 6:30 pm Baked Potato Bar, 7 pm Worship Service
• Sunday Easter Worship | April 16 | 8 am, 9:30 am, 11:15 am
If you've thought about joining or hosting a small group yourself but don't feel equipped with the right information or tools, join us Sunday after worship for the Small Group Leaders Toolbox. This session is designed to help you get started in time to join or start one of your own Lenten small groups.
As we're thinking about all these upcoming events, I want to invite you to be a part of our social media team to help us to get the word out about what's happening here. It’s easy and a great way to invite people to know Jesus! If you’re on Facebook, go to our page and ‘like’ it (if you haven’t already). Then ‘like’ (or ‘love’) ‘comment’ and/or ‘share’ our posts when they show up in your newsfeed. Also consider ‘checking in’ when you’re taking part in one of our events or worshiping. Let your Facebook friends know all about your church—you just might help them find their church home!
This weekend in worship we’re going to continue in our sermon series Blowing in the Wind by addressing our hectic calendars and how we, as Christians, should think about time. I’ll be focusing in on how we make wise decision in the midst of endless demands as we seek together to live as faithful Christ followers. I hope you’ll be there to join me in worship.
Make sure to take a look at the upcoming life-giving ways to serve and get connected in our congregation listed below.
