Next G.A.N.G. Meeting: NOVEMBER 19
Fourth and fifth graders are encouraged to come to our next meeting on Sunday, November 19 from 4:30-6:00 pm. G.A.N.G. stands for God’s Awesome
Next Generation and meets in the children’s S.S. rooms — J1 & J2. Led by Carin Pratt, Jon Brady, Cara Reynolds, and Evan Vigilia, G.A.N.G. is designed to help 4th & 5th graders stay connected to church while having lots of wild and crazy fun.
Each evening will wrap up with pizza, so please bring $5 to help pay for it if you can. If you have food allergies, please bring dinner from home.
Mark your calendar with these upcoming dates:
- November 19, December 17, January 14 & 28.
- AdVeNt ActiVitieS, December 2-3
- Advent, the four weekends leading up to Christmas Day, begins the weekend of Dec. 2-3. All children, toddlers through 5th graders, will want to be present in their Kids Alive and Sunday School classes this weekend! We will have Advent Calendars to distribute to the children, and each family will have an opportunity to make an Advent Wreath to take home for use in their family devotional time during Advent. Advent Wreaths will be made during the Saturday night
- Kids Alive class and between services on Sunday. So if you usually attend church at 10:45, try to come at 10:00 so your family can take home an Advent Wreath!

Pastor Brian’s faith Works
How is your “One Thing” going? The One Thing is the thing that you pray for, the thing you keep track of, the thing that you help yourself to be ready to act on? Since the hurricanes and earthquakes that began this August, many of us have been on compassion overload or compassion exhaustion. So my plea was for each person to pray for one thing to give your attention and prayer to. That could be one of the natural disasters, a human-made disaster, or a critical need in your own family.
Now I just named some situations that might renew your sense of overload, so I’ll stop there. Back to the one thing ...
You might begin with a prayer like this:
“Lord God, give my attention and my compassion to that one situation or one relationship in the world, where people need your love and care in a practical way. In your love, plant seeds in other hearts as well so that together we may cover your creation with prayer. Let me learn how your Son Jesus Christ works in the world. Show me how your Holy Spirit moves. Teach me to share your love and to reach out to others with questions and ideas and actions. Help me Lord, help US, Lord, to experience your grace and your power as you move in places that seemed impossible. Open our hearts and our eyes to the things you are doing and the things you want me to be a part of. We pray together in the name of Jesus Christ." Amen.

Throughout our lives God is revealed in many beautiful ways. Many times that revelation comes from one life changing event we feel we will never forget. Others times it comes from long journeys that take us to places we never dreamed we would go and changes our lives in ways we would have never imagined.
On December 19 at 7 pm we would like for you to have the opportunity to explore the ways God is active and real, even in the most unexpected places. Praying through life's highs and lows, seeing the beautiful puzzle God is creating in our lives through the loving Grace of Jesus Christ. This will be a time of prayer, reflection, and to hear the journey of a fellow church member. All to celebrate the places of peace that can be created in our journey in God's Love.
God Is Love,
Rev. M. Andrew Davis

Hello Hope UMC,
I want to send a huge thank you to all those who attended The Preschool’s Annual Fall Festival and silent auction. It was a huge success and we were so excited to see all the church members and preschool families interacting. We want to send out a special thank you to Danna Staples, our Board President, for all the hard work she put into getting the auction items from the community. We would like to thank the preschool families and for their donations as well. A special thank you to Wendy Mathson who donated the beautiful quilt to the silent auction. Thank you for all who helped with the food, including Dee Tenney and Jeff Brady.
We love to see all the children sing in church and to see all the families enjoying all the activities set up after church as well.

This Month in the Music Ministry ...
We are so blessed here at Hope UMC! The music ministry is busy and buzzing! On November 4 & 5, the SNA band debuted a new song called,
“When All Is Said and Done,” the Axios Youth Choir wonderfully sang, violist Annabelle Terbetski beautifully played, the adult choirs and SNA band soulfully accompanied a very special All Saints video of our loved ones who have passed, and we joyfully celebrated the Hope Korean Community’s 1st year anniversary here at HOPE!! On November 11, the SNA band will sing a Tim McGraw song called, “Humble and Kind” along with other favorites. On November 12, for the first time, the Hope Ringers Bell Choir will join forces with the HKC, and together will ring a song called, “Celebrate with Joy.” Then on Nov 19 Claire Jones, flute, and Geoff Gaebe, clarinet, will play a beautiful rendition of “On Eagles Wings.” On November 26, we welcome
soloist, Tess Mauricio, and James Lee, accompanist, to share an offertory with us. Finally, on December 3, we’ve invited harpist, Heidi Fleischbein, to start the Christmas season off with elegance and beauty! Hear the band and choirs each week, as we get to “pray twice” through song!
