Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living - WordAction - The Foundry Publishing House of Kansas City, Missouri, United States - The Global Church of the Nazarene for Saturday, 4 November 2017 "Follow God's Scriptures Closely" by Rudy Morgan - 2 Timothy 3:10-17
2 Timothy 3:10 But you, you have closely followed my teaching, conduct, purpose in life, trust, steadfastness, love and perseverance — 11 as well as the persecutions and sufferings that came my way in Antioch, Iconium and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 12 And indeed, all who want to live a godly life united with the Messiah Yeshua will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves.
14 But you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, recalling the people from whom you learned it; 15 and recalling too how from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which can give you the wisdom that leads to deliverance through trusting in Yeshua the Messiah. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is valuable for teaching the truth, convicting of sin, correcting faults and training in right living; 17 thus anyone who belongs to God may be fully equipped for every good work.

All Scriptures in the Bible are from God and His revelation to us. The Bible makes known all that is necessary for our salvation from sin and abundant living. The Bible urges us to study the Word faithfully and consistently. The essence of Christian discipleship is a disciplined walk with God by faith. We grow in this walk through faithful obedience to the whole spectrum of the Scriptures.
I still remember a preacher saying many years ago, “God calls fools, but He does not keep any.” A very true statement that expresses the general tenure of the apostle’s guidance to his young servant is in 2 Timothy 3:14-15: “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
The Bible is the foundation for followers of Christ. Why? Because it is God's Word, inspired for us. The Scriptures point to salvation and equip us to live in holy fellowship with God and others. Is the Bible the solid rock on which we live each day?---
Hymn for Today:
"Standing on the Promises" by R. Kelso Carter
1. Standing on the promises of Christ my King,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
2. Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
3. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love's strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit's sword,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.
4. Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit's call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of Christ my Savior;
standing, standing,
I'm standing on the promises of God.

Thought for Today:
Now if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives to all generously and without reproach; and it will be given to him.(James 1:5)

Please pray:
That many people in the Turks and Caicos Islands will come to know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
