The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection Downtown in Kansas City, Missouri, United State "Weekly eNote from Pastor Scott Chrostek for Fridy, November 17, 2017
Shalom RezDowntowners,As I type this week’s email, I am on a bus heading back to the airport in Tel Aviv after a holy week of pilgrimage throughout the Promised Land (Israel) with 41 church members. I'm excited to share about the trip this weekend in worship. Check out a couple of images from our travels, below!
I am so ready to be back in Kansas City, to spend time with each of you in worship, and to be back home at Resurrection Downtown. This weekend I will shift focus from generosity to the power of gratitude, and the importance of giving thanks. As a part of this, I hope that you have taken advantage of our gratitude journals. Have you been giving thanks daily? Has it impacted your life in any way? These are questions we will wrestle with as we look at gratitude, like generosity, as having the power to lead us toward a better life.
There is lots going on this weekend! It is Commitment Weekend, a time when we invite everyone who considers Resurrection their church home to return their pledge cards by placing them on the altar, as an act of worship and a sign of our faithfulness to God. Wendy and I are prayerfully considering our commitment. We are seeking to grow our generosity and draw nearer to God with each passing day. If you are unable to be present in worship, I would invite you to please fill out your pledge online by clicking here.
Sunday morning, we will have a Chiefs Tailgate Breakfast after each of our worship services. We invite you to wear your Chiefs gear, if you have some, and enjoy a pancake breakfast in the parking lot! We also plan to project the Chiefs game in the sanctuary for anyone who would like to stick around and watch the game. This is one small way of expressing our thanksgiving for each and every one of you, as well as a great opportunity to build community.
I will be preaching live at RezDowntown this weekend. Bring your friends and family for a message on gratitude and fantastic pancakes!
