Greetings Resurrection Blue Springs,
We have had a great response to our Faithwork tomorrow morning to pack hygiene kits for Heart to Heart for disaster relief. All the serving spots are full and then some! I’m always excited for these times when we can come together and serve alongside our children, giving them the opportunity to experience with us the value and joy that comes from serving others. I am extremely grateful to Sherree Gorman and her missions team that does so much behind the scenes work to make these opportunities available to us. When you see Sherree please thank her for the many hours she gives us to make these events possible. If you’d like to be a part of this missions planning team, let me know.
As we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, we begin a new sermon series this Sunday entitled, With Grateful Hearts, exploring the amazing power of gratitude. Numerous psychological studies have found that gratitude increases happiness and well-being, improves mental and physical health, and is key in strengthening marriages and all other relationships. Hundreds of verses in scripture speak to the importance of gratitude in developing a deep and meaningful spiritual life.
As a part of this series, this Sunday we are initiating a 30 Days of Gratitude Challenge across all of our campuses. This weekend only, we will hand out Gratitude Journals, one per person in attendance. These journals will be used to help us experience more fully the power of gratitude. I look forward to preaching this series and taking this journey with you. If you’ve been considering inviting a friend to worship, this is a great opportunity.
In light of the heartbreaking church shooting in Texas, I wanted you to know that we approach the safety and security of our Resurrection Blue Springs members and guests very seriously. Every worship service we have a security team in place, led by a paid, trained professional, to ensure the safety of our congregation. This team of over 25 volunteers goes through both Safe Gatherings training (for child and special needs protection), as well as training for emergency preparedness, including CPR and AED use. We make it a practice to schedule annual training events for active shooter scenarios and have emergency procedures in place for other events such as a fire or tornado. We want you to be able to relax and fully engage in worship when you come to Resurrection.
Don't forget that this Sunday we have a Pizza with the Pastor gathering for those who'd like to know more about Resurrection and the expectations for membership. You will find details about signing up below, as well as other upcoming opportunities to connect, grow, and serve.
I look forward to seeing you this weekend!
Pastor Penny
