DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2017

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s
will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will. (ROMANS 12:2 (NIV))
For Christmas a few years ago, my sister gave me a Bible that listed a selection of readings for each day. I was so excited that at first I had to restrain myself from reading ahead. I stuck with the daily reading for about two or three months, but one day when I was particularly busy I figured it was fine to skip a day. One day turned into a week, a week into a month, and a month into two months. Eventually, I gave up. I was too far behind to catch up, so I just quit reading my Bible. Soon after, I realized that I was becoming less aware of God’s involvement in my life. Because reading the Bible had made me more sensitive to God’s will, I’ve recently begun my reading again. I’m gradually becoming more aware of God again. I find myself praying more, and I’m much happier and more content than I was when I was away from God’s word. Even when we feel too busy, it’s important for us to pray and to focus on God so that we allow God to help us through the rough and busy times. The daily spiritual disciplines of prayer, service, and praise keep us connected to God.
TODAY'S PRAYER:
Dear God, help us to keep our focus on you each day. When we fail, give us courage to start anew. Amen.

TODAY'S READING: Luke 10:38-42
Luke 10:38 On their way Yeshua and his talmidim came to a village where a woman named Marta welcomed him into her home. 39 She had a sister called Miryam who also sat at the Lord’s feet and heard what he had to say. 40 But Marta was busy with all the work to be done; so, going up to him, she said, “Sir, don’t you care that my sister has been leaving me to do all the work by myself?” 41 However, the Lord answered her, “Marta, Marta, you are fretting and worrying about so many things! 42 But there is only one thing that is essential. Miryam has chosen the right thing, and it won’t be taken away from her.”
