DAILY DEVOTIONAL FOR SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2017
[Jesus] replied [to his listeners], “What is impossible for mortals is possible for God.” (Luke 18:27 (NRSV))
I needed to take my nine-year-old brother to school one morning, but the gas tank was almost empty. “You can make it to the gas station by the school,” my dad said. “The gas is cheaper there.” We hadn’t gone far down the road when I noticed that the needle on the gas gauge hadn’t moved. I began to worry that we would be stuck on the side of the road if I didn’t stop for gas immediately. But I looked at my little brother and said, “If Dad said we’ll make it, then we’ll keep on going!”
Because our father had never led me astray before, I trusted him, even when the circumstances might have convinced me otherwise. Later, when we reached the gas station, my brother exclaimed, “We made it! We had faith.” He saw that I trusted our father and recognized faith in action.
Sometimes the situation looks dire and we wonder where God is. But maybe God is waiting for us to step out in faith and act on what we believe. We can trust our loving God to take care of us, no matter how impossible things may seem.

TODAY'S PRAYER:
* * *
Matthew 8:23 He boarded the boat, and his talmidim followed. 24 Then, without warning, a furious storm arose on the lake, so that waves were sweeping over the boat. But Yeshua was sleeping. 25 So they came and roused him, saying, “Sir! Help! We’re about to die!” 26 He said to them, “Why are you afraid? So little trust you have!” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and there was a dead calm. 27 The men were astounded. They asked, “What kind of man is this, that even the winds and sea obey him?”

I will trust God’s faithfulness today.
Fathers
