"The Good News" Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Sunday, 26 February 2018
John 16:8-9 (NIV)
When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me;
John 16:8 “When he comes, he will show that the world is wrong about sin, about righteousness and about judgment — 9 about sin, in that people don’t put their trust in me; (Complete Jewish Bible)
The "Good News" is that JESUS SAVES! Praise the Living God who lives forever. He is our savior and He is the only way to the Father. He didn't come to make our lives cushy, or that we should live in grand houses or drive big cars, though He can certainly bless us as He chooses. He came to give us so much more - eternal life. And though He is our savior, He will also be the judge of the world.
A popular false gospel does not mention repentance.
Definition of repent
intransitive verb
1: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life
2a : to feel regret or contrition
b : to change one's mind
transitive verb
1: to cause to feel regret or contrition
2: to feel sorrow, regret, or contrition for
Without repentance the gospel isn't the gospel.
Acts 17:30 New King James Version (NKJV) Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
The scriptures are clear that without repentance there is no salvation. Now the work of the Holy Spirit is to convict us of sin, another way to define that is He comes to convince us to turn from sin.
There are two major scenes of judgement in the bible. in the book of revelation there is the "Great white throne judgement"
11 Then I saw a great white throne and One seated on it. Earth and heaven fled from His presence, and no place was found for them. 12 I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books.
13 Then the sea gave up its dead, and Death and Hades gave up their dead; all were judged according to their works. 14 Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And anyone not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.

Question: "What is the Great White Throne Judgment?"
Answer: The great white throne judgment is described in Revelation 20:11-15 and is the final judgment prior to the lost being cast into the lake of fire. We know from Revelation 20:7-15 that this judgment will take place after the millennium and after Satan, the beast, and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:7-10). The books that are opened (Revelation 20:12) contain records of everyone’s deeds, whether they are good or evil, because God knows everything that has ever been said, done, or even thought, and He will reward or punish each one accordingly (Psalm 28:4; 62:12; Romans 2:6; Revelation 2:23; 18:6; 22:12).
Question: "What is the Judgment Seat of Christ"?
Answer: Romans 14:10–12 says, “For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. . . . So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God” (ESV). Second Corinthians 5:10 tells us, “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.” In context, it is clear that both passages refer to Christians, not unbelievers. The judgment seat of Christ, therefore, involves believers giving an account of their lives to Christ.
The judgment seat of Christ does not determine salvation; that was determined by Christ’s sacrifice on our behalf (1 John 2:2) and our faith in Him (John 3:16). All of our sins are forgiven, and we will never be condemned for them (Romans 8:1). We should not look at the judgment seat of Christ as God judging our sins, but rather as God rewarding us for our lives. Yes, as the Bible says, we will have to give an account of ourselves. Part of this is surely answering for the sins we committed. However, that is not going to be the primary focus of the judgment seat of Christ.
At the judgment seat of Christ, believers are rewarded based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5). Some of the things we might be judged on are how well we obeyed the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20), how victorious we were over sin (Romans 6:1-4), and how well we controlled our tongues (James 3:1-9). The Bible speaks of believers receiving crowns for different things based on how faithfully they served Christ (1 Corinthians 9:4-27; 2 Timothy 2:5). The various crowns are described in 2 Timothy 2:5, 2 Timothy 4:8, James 1:12, 1 Peter 5:4, and Revelation 2:10. James 1:12 is a good summary of how we should think about the judgment seat of Christ: “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

Sermon Notes From Sunday 18 February 2018 - Blue Hills Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City Missouri United States

Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version (NIV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
It is possible to know the will of God for your life. But your choices determine how much you can receive.
To understand the will of God in your life you must first understand what His moral will is. He has made clear in His word what his moral will is.
Obey what you already know to be God’s Will.
Many people seem to want to know what God’s plan is for their lives, but they overlook the fact that His will is already in His Word. God is very clear about many, many aspects of His will.
1 Corinthians 6:9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
Stop struggling with God's moral will and He will move you into your destiny. Some battles you are in are because you are fighting God's moral will. He will take you through the fire until you submit first to His will.
How can we get there?
Word - Study the word, understand the will of God.
Prayer - Spend time developing a relationship with the Lord, He desires this deeply.
Fellowship - Spend time with your brothers and sisters in the Lord.
Understand What A Fast Accomplishes
1. Gives Light - revelation
2. Releases Healing
3. righteousness
4. Glory
5. Answers to prayer
6.Direction
7. Satisfaction
8. Strength
9. The work of the Lord that is enduring
10. Restoration
When you fast it will cause you to be humble, it will cause you to be closer to God. It will give you understanding of what God's will for your life is. It will give you break through for healing and deliverance when nothing else has worked. Fasting is also effective to intercede for unsaved loved ones

Sermon Notes From Sunday 10:00 AMService - First Fruits
What is First Fruits?
Firstfruits [S]

The concept of firstfruits derives from God's creation work. Because God created everything that exists, all of creation belongs to him ( Psalm 24:1 ). Consequently, that which is first and best belongs to him and is to be given to him.
Because of God's creative power and ownership of all, the Bible instructs believers to give God the best of the animal sacrifices (see Lev. 1-5). The land is also viewed as a gift from God and the best of it, its "firstfruits, " is to be given to him crops ( Exodus 23:16 Exodus 23:19 ), the wheat harvest ( Exod 34:22 ; Lev 2:14 ; 23:20 ), olive oil ( Num 18:12 ; Deut 18:4 ), the finest new wine ( Num 18:12 ; Deut 18:4 ), honey ( 2 Chron 31:5 ), sheep wool ( Deut 18:4 ), and fruit ( Neh 10:35 ). The Old Testament makes it clear that everything that God's people have is to be viewed as from God and gained through his providence ( Psalm 50:10 ).
Tithing is tied to Mosaic Law, however it actually pre-dates the Law.
How Does FirstFruits apply to today? As we give it is a true expression of our worship. God wants our hearts so first we must give Him our bodies! Honor God with your bodies first. Next He wants to bless us and He does that through our giving. Our obedience is the highest form of worship!
2 Corinthians 9:7
As every man purposeth in his heart, so let him give, not grudgingly or out of compulsion; for God loveth the cheerful giver.

Our giving also is a weapon against the enemy! Did you know that the Word of God says that He will rebuke the enemy. In the book of Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament. “I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts” (KJV). In this verse Malachi records a wonderful promise of God to the nation of Israel. This promise is also for us today. Gods word is eternal.
