Reflecting God – Embrace Holy Living from The Global Church of the Nazarene's The Foundry Publishing in Kansas City, Missouri, United States "A Favorable Reception" by Samantha Chambo for Sunday, 25 February 2018 - Psalm 33:13-22
"A Favorable Reception" by Samantha Chambo - Psalm 33:13 Adonai looks out from heaven;
he sees every human being;
14 from the place where he lives
he watches everyone living on earth,
15 he who fashioned the hearts of them all
and understands all they do.
16 A king is not saved by the size of his army,
a strong man not delivered by his great strength.
17 To rely on a horse for safety is vain,
nor does its great power assure escape.
18 But Adonai’s eyes watch over those who fear him,
over those who wait for his grace
19 to rescue them from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20 We are waiting for Adonai;
he is our help and shield.
21 For in him our hearts rejoice,
because we trust in his holy name.
22 May your mercy, Adonai, be over us,
because we put our hope in you.

Asking for forgiveness can be very daunting. We are not always sure of the reception we will receive. However, because of His unfailing love, we do not have to fear coming in repentance to God.
God’s love for us is clearly revealed in the salvation He provided for us when He sent His Son to die on the cross for our sins. He not only invites us, but He also made a sure provision for our salvation and deliverance. This is why we can come to Him with boldness. We try to be independent and fix things ourselves. The only problem is that we do not have the capacity to fully fix things. Only God does.
This is why we put our hope in Him. We admit our helplessness and cry out for His intervention. We come in humility and submission, putting all our trust in Him. Even this is impossible apart from the help of God’s Holy Spirit. The Spirit reveals our sinfulness, but He also reveals God’s great love for us. In this way, we can come to God with the confidence that we will not be rejected.
Hymn for Today: "Only Trust Him" by John H. Stockton
1. Come, every soul by sin oppressed,
there's mercy with the Lord,
and He will surely give you rest
by trusting in His word.
Refrain: Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you.
He will save you now.
2. For Jesus shed His precious blood
rich blessings to bestow;
plunge now into the crimson flood
that washes white as snow.
Refrain: Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you.
He will save you now.
3. Yes, Jesus is the truth, the way,
that leads you into rest;
believe in Him without delay,
and you are fully blest.
Refrain: Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you.
He will save you now.
4. Come, then, and join this holy band,
and on to glory go,
to dwell in that celestial land
where joys immortal flow.
Refrain: Only trust Him, only trust Him,
only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you.
He will save you now.
Thought for Today: However, we are not the kind who shrink back and are destroyed; on the contrary, we keep trusting and thus preserve our lives!(Hebrews 10:39).
Please pray: For the leaders who cast the vision for today's ministry and strategy for the future work in Eurasia.
