My wisdom teeth had to come out. The surgeon used a general anesthesia, knocking me out so I would not even be awake when he sorted it all out. I remember the moment they put the medicine into my IV. No matter what, I was about to go to sleep and had zero control over what was going to happen to me. My last thought was, “Wow, I sure must trust these doctors.”
Trusting is risky. We are taking a chance when we rely on someone other than ourselves. Trusting means admitting we are powerless to help ourselves. Such was the faith of the people in today’s passage. They trusted Jesus whether in a crowd of people or among a group of mourners and naysayers. They took a risk: the woman who touched Jesus was revealed in front of everyone; Jarius’ daughter was truly dead. But they believed anyway and put their faith into action, despite the risks.
We are called to the same kind of faith, even when it’s risky. We need Christ to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Faith means we have to let go of our need for control. When we do, we discover God is faithful and trustworthy.
Hymn for Today:"Trust and Obey" by John H. Sammis.

1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,

What a glory He sheds on our way!

While we do His good will, He abides with us still,

And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,

But His smile quickly drives it away;

Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,

Can abide while we trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,

But our toil He doth richly repay;

Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,

But is blessed if we trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

4. But we never can prove the delights of His love

Until all on the altar we lay;

For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,

Are for them who will trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,

Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;

What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;

Never fear, only trust and obey.

Refrain: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way

To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

Thought for Today: By trusting, Avraham obeyed, after being called to go out[Hebrews 11:8 Genesis 12:1 ] to a place which God would give him as a possession; indeed, he went out without knowing where he was going.(Hebrews 11:8).

Please pray: That many people in Argentina will come know Yeshua as their Messiah and receive the fullness of the Ruach HaKodesh.
