Reflecting God - Embrace Holy Living - The Global of the Nazarene's Foundry Publishing House in Kansas City, Missouri, United States for Saturday, 28 July 2018 "One Misdialed Number" by Tim Gates - Hebrews 9:11-15, 24-28.
Hebrews 9:11 But when the Messiah appeared as cohen gadol of the good things that are happening already, then, through the greater and more perfect Tent which is not man-made (that is, it is not of this created world), 12 he entered the Holiest Place once and for all.
And he entered not by means of the blood of goats and calves, but by means of his own blood, thus setting people free forever. 13 For if sprinkling ceremonially unclean persons with the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer restores their outward purity; 14 then how much more the blood of the Messiah, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered himself to God as a sacrifice without blemish, will purify our conscience from works that lead to death, so that we can serve the living God!
15 It is because of this death that he is mediator of a new covenant [or will].[
Hebrews 9:15 Jeremiah 31:30(31)] Because a death has occurred which sets people free from the transgressions committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promised eternal inheritance., 24 For the Messiah has entered a Holiest Place which is not man-made and merely a copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, in order to appear now on our behalf in the very presence of God.
25 Further, he did not enter heaven to offer himself over and over again, like the cohen hagadol who enters the Holiest Place year after year with blood that is not his own; 26 for then he would have had to suffer death many times — from the founding of the universe on. But as it is, he has appeared once at the end of the ages in order to do away with sin through the sacrifice of himself. 27 Just as human beings have to die once, but after this comes judgment, 28 so also the Messiah, having been offered once to bear the sins of many,[
Hebrews 9:28 Isaiah 53:12] will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to deliver those who are eagerly waiting for him. (Complete Jewish Bible)

Mike, overwhelmed with life, sat one day with a gun in his mouth and plans to end his pain. Suddenly, the phone rang. It was a man who had misdialed by one number and Mike answered the phone. Sensing something was wrong the man talked to him and listened to his pain. He invited him to come to a place where he would receive love. The next day Mike came to church and afterwards we met. I invited Mike to lunch and through tears he shared the story of the brokenness of his life. Sensing the Holy Spirit’s urging, I said, “Mike, would you like to receive God’s unconditional love?” Through tears he said, “Yes!” In a moment he found grace, restoration, and hope.
Our day is often filled with inconveniences or possibilities. We can see people as problems or possible blessings. We, who have been restored, can be agents of restoration. Choose to listen to the Holy Spirit throughout your day and see what ways He will use you to bring redemption and hope to those who need it most.

Hymn for Today: "Redeemed" by Fanny J. Crosby.
1. Redeemed, how I love to proclaim it!
Redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed through His infinite mercy,
His child, and forever I am.
Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
2. Redeemed, and so happy in Jesus,
no language my rapture can tell;
I know that the light of His presence
with me doth continually dwell.
Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
3. I think of my blessed Redeemer,
I think of Him all the day long;
I sing, for I cannot be silent;
His love is the theme of my song.

Refrain: Redeemed, redeemed,
redeemed by the blood of the Lamb;
redeemed, redeemed,
His child and forever I am.
Thought for Today: The way that we have come to know love is through his having laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers! (1 John 3:16)! (Complete Jewish Bible)).
