David Lee Jefferson
DECEMBER 16, 1942 – JULY 24, 2018
David Jefferson, Blue River District Lay Leader, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018.
Services for David are scheduled for Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 12:30 pm, at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home, 6800 S 14th Street. Pastor Sally Ruggia-Haden will officiate, and the service will begin with Masonic Rites.
David was a long-time member of Newman United Methodist Church, and in recent years the New Hope United Methodist Church where he remained active in Lay Leadership and most recently had chaired the Staff Parish Relations Committee.
A certified Lay Speaker, David also served as Lay Leader for the Blue River District, attending numerous annual conferences and participating in other district committees and decision-making bodies of the church.
A great lover of music, David was a trumpet player and enthusiastic member of the Lincoln Community Concert Band. He relished performing and was inspired by a variety of musical experiences.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sherry. Married on August 24, 1963, they were blessed with two children, and cherished 50 years together before her passing in 2013.

David is survived by daughter, Carla (Melvin) Clayborne; son, David (Catherine Pattillo); grandsons, Antonio Clayborne and David Jefferson; granddaughters, Camille Jefferson and Jasmine Clayborne; nieces, nephews and a host of other family members and friends.
