Sunday Morning Worship at San Diego Mission Church of the Nazarene in San Diego, California, United States for Sunday, 29 July 2018

Sunday Morning, 29 July 2018 Worship with Senior Pastor Tony Miller
1 Corinthians 12:12 For just as the body is one but has many parts; and all the parts of the body, though many, constitute one body; so it is with the Messiah. 13 For it was by one Spirit that we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, slaves or free; and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
14 For indeed the body is not one part but many. 15 If the foot says, “I’m not a hand, so I’m not part of the body,” that doesn’t make it stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear says, “I’m not an eye, so I’m not part of the body,” that doesn’t make it stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, how could it hear? If it were all hearing, how could it smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged each of the parts in the body exactly as he wanted them. 19 Now if they were all just one part, where would the body be? 20 But as it is, there are indeed many parts, yet just one body.

Sometimes things just happen.
With the local church it does just happen.
Why are we having church?
Church membership is not well defined.
The church is the body making up of different people.
Sermon Notes
"Being Prepared: 'Falling Catfish'"
1 Corinthians 12:12-20
Why be a Member?
We the Body of Christ.
1. Membership Reflects What the Church is.
How do we work in unity as the Body of Christ?
We work together as one.
Mission communities are on mission together.
2. The Bible Teaches Covenant Community.
Trouble in the text brings the solution which is Jesus.
We are part of church because of Jesus.
3. People Need Church Membership.
The connectedness of our Spiritual journey and life.
Christianity as individualistic is damaging because Christianity is communal. We comes to Jesus in community.
BIG IDEAS FROM BIG MEN:
1. Spiritual leadership keeps the main thing the main thing. (i.e. Jesus).
2. Spiritual leadership can work in low position as well as a high position. (i.e. Joseph).
3. Spiritual leadership hears the voice of God and sees the vision.(i.e. Abraham).
4. Spiritual leadership realized that what one is doing is for generations to come.(i.e. Moses).
People are watching our own faithfulness to God and His Vision,
Prayer. Worship in Song. Response to God. Benediction.
