Trinity United Methodist Church "The Tuesday Word" for Tuesday, 24 June 2014

Trinity United Methodist Church "The Tuesday Word" for Tuesday, 24 June 2014
Friends, so many of you have been asking, "Now that the mortgage has been paid off, what's next?" And you've indicated strongly, "Let's keep going."  Our survey indicated three major areas where you are
most keen to direct your giving:  Local Missions, "fix the sound system once and for all, and future building (welcome center/hub and playground).  So, Church Council affirmed last night that we encourage you if you wish to continue part or more of your "Imagine" giving to (a) the general fund and let the Church Council allocate it to one or more of the above projects or (b) indicate on your check or envelope any of the above areas where you would like your extra giving to go.  I hope this is helpful.  If you have any questions just email me or call.
I'm excited to be preaching this Sunday, and continue the series on Biblical Characters that Aaron started.  I'll be doing a "part 2" on Peter, the disciple like so many of us.  I hope to see you in worship.  Or if you're away, remember, you can see the sermon videos usually by
Monday afternoon following the Sunday service.  And, this Fall we should be ready to begin Live Streaming of our services; we'll keep you posted.
An update on our Accessible Playground:  Almost everything is in; we have the money to purchase a shade structure for the "littles" area, which is so necessary in this heat, and it will be ordered as soon as we narrow it down to the best deal.  And then we have just one more
structure left, and we'll keep you posted on that as we know more.  Hopefully we will have a big dedication ceremony where we can let the whole community know that this playground exists and that they and their loved ones who may have a disability are invited to come and
enjoy.
Sonlight got back from their tour yesterday.  All reports are that it was an amazing time!  Summer Time Fun and Cross trainers has begun with so many happy children playing and very happy parents dropping them off!  Trinity is such a great place to be!
Love and prayers, Dan

Rev. Esther is on a mission trip to Haiti. Please keep her and the team and those who they are serving in your prayers.
A word from Rev. Aaron:  After Annual Conference and some time away with my family, it was good to be back in worship with you on Sunday! I am already looking forward to this coming Sunday when I will have the joy of leading the worship music at 9:40, with a few of my friends. Hope to see you there! This Wednesday at the 6:35 service in the chapel, I will begin a series of sermons inspired by a book called For the Sake of the Bride, written by my friend and mentor, Dr. Steve Harper. Hope to see you there, too! Grace and peace be with you all as you enter into the summer season.

This week's Mission Box will support the FUMCH Madison Youth Ranch. The Ranch will become a place of love and safety for children who are desperately in need of both. The Ranch plans to be operational with the first group of children welcomed in just a few weeks, July 2014. The focus of these funds will go toward providing recreational equipment for these young people such as bicycles/helmets, a basketball court and etc... plus start up budget costs. Let's continue to show these children how much Trinity loves and cares for them.
Eleven Homes to be built in Haiti!  Several months ago, a group from Trinity went to Haiti to build a home for a family that had been living in a tent for the last four years.  While the team was there, they dreamed about the possibility of the children of VBS raising funds to build a home for a family.  In the process they felt that it would be great if the congregation got behind them and rallied to help make this a possibility.  As the VBS children did chores to raise money, a life size replica of the home was built  in our Worship Center.  Our children worked very hard and in 1 week, raised 2,857.50-- the largest amount that has ever been raised in VBS!  The following Sunday, Jack Brown and Jeff Tennant shared the children's accomplishments and challenged the congregation to match what our children raised.  Yesterday, we received the total from the Mission Box:  $10,790.36!  This gives us a grand total of $13,647.86 which will fund seven homes to be built for needy families.  We are continuously amazed by the work of our children and the generosity of the Trinity Family.  We truly feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing congregation with a passion for Missions.    In Service Together, Children's Ministry & Missions - Elizabeth Jones & Ted Grueser
We Need Your Help - We are looking for a family or someone that
might be interested in housing a father and daughter that are coming to Gainesville from Haiti.  The family will be here approximately two months while the daughter (Daphney) has surgery.  We can be creative with thin in splitting the time up or they can stay the whole time in one place.  We just want to show our Trinity hospitality.  If you are interested please contact Liza Case at 352-262-0167 or by email.
