36 Jesus dismissed the congregation and went into the house. His disciples came in and said, “Explain to us that story of the thistles in the field.”
37-39 So he explained. “The farmer who sows the pure seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the pure seeds are subjects of the kingdom, the thistles are subjects of the Devil, and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, the curtain of history. The harvest hands are angels.
40-43 “The picture of thistles pulled up and burned is a scene from the final act. The Son of Man will send his angels, weed out the thistles from his kingdom, pitch them in the trash, and be done with them. They are going to complain to high heaven, but nobody is going to listen. At the same time, ripe, holy lives will mature and adorn the kingdom of their Father.
“Are you listening to this? Really listening?
"God’s Exterminators" by Stephen Mayes
Want to hear some good news? There is a day coming when evil will be extinguished. The evil one, who lures us away into death, has a day of reckoning coming. With evil’s eradication all brokenness will be healed and the world’s original beauty restored. The prosperity of God’s people will again be bountiful. The removal of evil from the world will enable God’s children to walk with him in unhindered fellowship again. They will taste the sweetness of life which has long been soured by the carnage of sin.
When the Lord Jesus makes his triumphant return, this promise of a world cleansed of evil will become a reality. In perhaps their greatest act of service to mankind, the angels of God will scour every inch of creation root up “everything that causes sin and all who do evil.” Careful attention will be given to ensure not one bit of evil will remain. The evil induced brokenness and carnage that covers our world today is not permanent. A day of rebirth and renewal is coming. Oh, what a day that will be!
Hymn for Today: "What A Day That Will Be" by Jim Hill
1. There is coming a day,
When no heart aches shall come,
No more clouds in the sky,
No more tears to dim the eye,
All is peace forever more,
On that happy golden shore,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
Chorus: What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
2. There'll be no sorrow there,
No more burdens to bear,
No more sickness, no pain,
No more parting over there;
And forever I will be,
With the One who died for me,
What a day, glorious day that will be.
Chorus: What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,

What a day, glorious day that will be
