Reflecting God - "Well-Watered" The Global Church of the Nazarene of Lenexa, Kansas, United States for Sunday, 3 January 2016  – Embrace Holy Living - Psalm 1:1-6RG AUDIO 010316
Psalm 1:
1 How blessed are those
who reject the advice of the wicked,
don’t stand on the way of sinners
or sit where scoffers sit!
2 Their delight
is in Adonai’s Torah;
on his Torah they meditate
day and night.
3 They are like trees planted by streams —
they bear their fruit in season,
their leaves never wither,
everything they do succeeds.
4 Not so the wicked,
who are like chaff driven by the wind.
5 For this reason the wicked
won’t stand up to the judgment,
nor will sinners
at the gathering of the righteous.
6 For Adonai watches over
the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked
is doomed.

My favorite Bible has fallen apart. The section beginning with the publisher’s preface and ending with Genesis 28 has completely separated from the spine. Thumb tabs that used to mark Ephesians to Colossians and Revelation fell off years ago. The cover is cracked, and the words, once in gold lettering, have faded. These are not signs of poor workmanship by the publisher, but of hours I’ve spent soaking in that Bible. Year after year, its promises and teachings watered my soul. It taught me about Jesus, and about how to live. I couldn’t get enough.
That much use can wear out a Bible, but not a person. In fact, Psalm 1 says that whoever delights in the Word, meditating on it day and night, is like a tree. Spiritual roots dig deep into the soil and limbs stretch to the sky.
Thanks to technology, the Bible is available in all kinds of electronic formats that will probably never wear out. Though the medium is radically different from print, the message is the same. And by it, we grow.
Hymn For Today: "More holiness give me" by Philip Paul Bliss (1838-1876)
1. More holiness give me,
More sweetness within,
More patience in suff’ring,
More sorrow for sin,
More faith in my Savior,
More sense of His care,
More joy in His service,
More freedom in prayer.
Chorus:
Come, my Savior, and help me,
Comfort, strengthen and keep me;
Thou each moment wilt save me,
  Thou art saving me now.
2. More gratitude give me,
More trust in the Lord,
More zeal for His glory,
More hope in His Word,
More tears for His sorrows,
More pain at His grief,
More meekness in trial,
More praise for relief.
Chorus:
Come, my Savior, and help me,
Comfort, strengthen and keep me;
Thou each moment wilt save me,
  Thou art saving me now.
3.
More victory give me,
More strength to o’ercome,
More freedom from earth-stains,
More quest for the throne,
More fit for the kingdom,
More useful I’d be,
More blessed and holy,
More, Savior, like Thee.
Chorus:
Come, my Savior, and help me,
Comfort, strengthen and keep me;
Thou each moment wilt save me,
  Thou art saving me now.
Thought for Today:
"For Adonai watches over
the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked
is doomed." Psalm 1:6
Please pray:

For the churches who look backward and forward through the John Wesley's Covenant Service to renew their faith in Jesus.
