WEEK 1: LOVING THE TRADITION BEHIND THE TRADITION
We first meet Paul under his Roman name Saul, where he is at the city gate watching the stoning of Stephen. Saul is persecuting Jesus’s disciples for threatening his beloved, learned Jewish traditions. He is determined to put a stop to this gospel movement…until his own encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. You know the story. Can you imagine such a dramatic shift taking place in your own heart and mind, a radical transformation? Is it possible that God is calling us just as God called Paul to expand our missional imagination?
In this week’s study of God Unbound, we learn how Paul wrestles with the idea of God doing a new thing.
Video: Watch Dr. Heath talk about some of the long traditions in our churches that may be holding us back from seeing God doing a new thing, and how we can participate with God’s work in today’s world.
