1 Timothy 5:3 Show respect to widows who are really in need. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, first let them learn to do their religious duty to their own family and thus repay some of the debt they owe their forebears, for this is what is acceptable in the sight of God. 5 Now the widow who is really in need, the one who has been left all alone, has set her hope on God and continues in petitions and prayers night and day. 6 But the one who is self-indulgent is already dead, even though she lives. 7 And instruct them about this, so that they will not be open to blame. 8 Moreover, anyone who does not provide for his own people, especially for his family, has disowned the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

In our Bible verses today, Paul talked to Timothy about taking care of widows - women whose husbands have died.
Recently I studied these verses. I learned that the church is responsible to take care of older widows who need help. I also learned that children should help take care of their mother if she is a widow.
These verses really touched my heart because my mother is a widow now. I am her only child. So I am responsible to help take care of her. Paul also says that as Christians, we should take care of our families. "Most important, they should take care of their own family. If they do not do that, then they do not accept what we believe. They are worse than someone who does not even believe in God" (verse 8b).
I encourage you to pay attention to Paul's words in our Bible verses today. God will bless you as you serve Him by helping others.[BC*]
"My children, our love should
not be only words and talk.
No, our love must be real.
We must show our love by
the things we do."[1 John 3:18]
PRAYER: Dear God, please show me ways I can serve others today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
