Resurrection Blue Springs,
You wouldn't believe all the activity that's been happening at church this week! Our construction crew has been putting on the finishing touches in the new gathering space, the furniture arrived and the staff team has been working feverishly to get things put together so that you can see it all this Sunday. I am so excited for you to see how beautiful it all turned out. It exceeded my expectations. We will give you an update on where we are with the project this Sunday. There are still some things we'd like to accomplish in several locations throughout the building but with our campaign only half way through it's duration we want to make sure we're being fiscally responsible in using the remaining resources. Make sure you take a look around and walk on back into my new office space. This may be the only time you'll see my desk so clean!
What I love the most about these renovations is that they are a demonstration of how much you love God and our community. As you know, this building is only a tool for us to use to share the good news of Jesus Christ and to welcome people into an opportunity to know, love and serve God along with an amazing community of people. Last night we invited all the donors for this campaign to have a first look at the space and to pray together in it for God's blessing on how we can use it best and for God's purposes in the coming months and years ahead. It was a special moment.
Although you may not know that fall is officially here by the weather, you can certainly see it in the number of things happening at church. We have many opportunities to serve coming up. I also want to make aware of another opportunity to continue our conversation on race with Pastor Scott Chroste and Rev. Dr. F. Willis Johnson (Pastor at Wellspring UMC in Ferguson, MO on Oct. 1st at our Downtown campus. We'll be gathering with members of Centennial United Methodist Church and other area leaders in KC in order to find a way forward to reconciliation. Pastor Johnson will lead us in this conversation using his experiences from Ferguson. You'll find the details below.
This weekend we'll be concluding our series of sermons on Moses. It's been great to retrace the footsteps of Moses and see the location of these events from scripture. Sunday we'll be exploring Moses final message to the people before his death and their entrance into the promised land and spend some time reflecting on why it is so important to understand who we are and where we come from.
Be sure to take a close look below for further details on upcoming events and activities . . .
