Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Friday, 23 September 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West of Olathe, Kansas, United States

Weekly eNote from Pastor Jason Gant for Friday, 23 September 2016 from The United Methodist Church of the Resurrection West of Olathe, Kansas, United StatesResurrection West,
Greetings on this second day of Autumn. The weather will begin to change soon as we anticipate our Fall Festival coming up on October 8th. This event is a great time to invite friends to a Kingdom party at RezWest filled with food, games, costumes, fireworks, tours of the building construction, and more. The “Harvest Crew” has been hard at work all year making plans that would introduce the neighbors to our church and welcome them with the love of Christ! Begin to consider who you will invite to this event that has something for every age and is always a great time together! We will share more in worship Sundayalong with how you can get involved!
Weeks ago hundreds of you gave us feedback through a survey about expanding worship at RezWest. We discussed the 70% rule, which says that once a room is filled to 70% capacity, people feel as if there is not enough room for them. We are growing in worship attendance year over year and this is a great celebration! In order to never turn anyone away or make anyone feel as if there is no room for them at RezWest, we must make some changes to our worship schedule. This is so critical as we seek to reach out to non and nominally religious people in our community to introduce them to a life-changing experience with Christ. I’m always inspired at how you respond when a challenge is put forth that moves us forward into God’s call. Over 200 (on that one Sunday of the survey alone) of you said you’d be willing to move to the earliest of three morning worship services to make room for new guests and visitors at the prime hours. After much prayer, discernment, survey feedback, and discussion it is clear that our best options are the following NEW worship times: 8:00am, 9:30am, 11:00am, 5:00pm. This NEW worship schedule will begin on November 27th. We believe this will position us in the best way possible, with the resources God has provided, to continue in our mission of building Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians. It seems fitting to me that we will launch our NEW worship schedule on the first Sunday in Advent reminding us to “make room in the inn”, as we reflect upon how God would come in the form of a child for all people! May you join me in prayer now of how you might be a part of the mission branching out and making room for all. Remember that God may not be calling you to missionary work overseas, or to full time vocational ministry - but He may be asking you to move your Sunday schedule an hour earlier or an hour later to help build His Kingdom here! And please consider the 5pm service. My family and I worship at the 5pm and we love it!
Pastor Adam concludes the Moses series this Sunday with a final message on this powerful story of God calling an ordinary man to do extraordinary things for Him. May we reflect on how the call of Moses helps us to hear God’s own call for each of us!
