From Mike Ash: Worship Leader/Director of Community
Thursday, November 17, 2016
Hi Resurrection Blue Springs,
As I write today it is 78° out and very windy. I believe we've set a record high for November 17! It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is next week! There are so many things to be grateful for. I'm thankful for good health, my family and my church. I want to encourage you to think of at least three things every day that you're grateful for and thank God for them.
We have a wonderful opportunity this Saturday to serve at First United Methodist Church. The details are below in this email and I encourage you to sign up. Also the men's gathering "The Locker Room" is this Saturday night. Aaron Jones and I have been working on this event and it's going to be a great time. Kevin Locket will be sharing a powerful message. I hope all the men will take advantage of this gathering. It's going to be an inspiring time together.
Pastor Penny and a large group from our church are in the Holy Land and will return late next week. Let's keep them in prayer that God will reveal his heart and deeper ways to them and that they return refreshed and inspired. God's peace be with you! Mike Ash
I can’t wait to see you this weekend and take a look at all the upcoming activities and events . . . COR Singles Service Opportunity – Friday Nov. 18, 5 pm or as soon as you can arrive. We will be helping the Rainbow Center in Blue Springs set up for their HUGE Fundraiser being held at Hilton Garden Inn, 19677 E Jackson Dr. in Independence. Come to the hotel and work to help the Rainbow Center prepare for a successful event — enjoy the fellowship too!
Heart to Heart Hygiene Kit Assembly Event – November 19 We are holding a Hygiene Kit Assembly Event with Heart to Heart. We will be assembling up to 1600 kits, some of which will be sent to Haiti in relief of the devastation they have experienced in the wake of Hurricane Matthew. We are partnering with First United Methodist Church of Blue Springs in this event. It will take place from 8:30am to 12:30pm (choose a 1 hour shift) in the gymnasium at First United Methodist Church (301 SW Woods Chapel Rd, Blue Springs.) All are invited, ages 8 and above. Please sign up online here. To learn more about the organization go to Heart to Heart International.
The Locker Room – Saturday Nov. 19, 6:30-8:30 pm. We will have a time of food, fellowship and an inspiring message from former NFL player Kevin Lockett. Kevin is a former American football wide receiver and punt returner in the National Football League for the Kansas City Chiefs, Washington Redskins, Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets. The theme for the gathering is the “The Locker Room”. Learn how you prepare for the challenges ahead of you, rejoice in victory, and start to rebuild after a defeat. So come meet your teammates (walk-ons, rookies, and veterans are welcome) as we prepare for the game of life. Cost is $10 and includes a meal. Please sign up at Guest Services or online here. Contact Mike.Ash@cor.org for more information.

21 Questions Tuesdays through Nov 22, 6:30-8:30 pm. It’s widely known that it takes 21 days to develop a habit. Be a part of this 3-week study, where each participant will have access to a 21-day devotional complete with daily reading, personal reflection questions and practical ideas for living out our faith. The Wesley Challenge content is based upon the famous 21 questions of John and Charles Wesley’s notably nicknamed group, The Holy Club. The questions help us examine our relationship to God, Self and Others. The purpose of the Wesley 21 Day Challenge is to go beyond mere words and develop the spiritual habits that lead us toward a thriving Christian life. Join a small group or create your own group of 2-3 other couples or singles. Engage in the daily GPS Guide readings and connect through Resurrection’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for helpful prompts. Sign up at Guest Services or online. For questions, contact Mike.Ash@cor.org.
