Hello Resurrection Blue Springs!
It looks like we have a beautiful Presidents weekend ahead of us with these unseasonalbly warm temperatures. I hope you are planning some time to get out and enjoy this weather. I'm thinking I may have to air up the bike tires and take a ride this afternoon to enjoy some of this warm sunshine on my day off.
I want to thank all of you that participated in the Souper Bowl Food Collection. I don't know the total collected for the entire church yet, but our campus alone collected 1,397 pounds of grocery items, not to mention the monetary gifts that were given to supplement our food ministry. This is 232 pounds more than last year. This food will be distributed in our backpack ministry and given to Community Services League here in Blue Springs to help care for those in our area with food insecurities. Way to go!!
I'm excited to begin a new sermon series with you this Sunday entitled Blowing in the Wind. Over the past several months, we’ve been working as a campus to clarify our vision for 2017 and beyond. Part of this process has been working with leaders from our congregation to identify our unique strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities in order to determine how we might overcome or build on these areas. One of the things that rose to the top of the threat list with every group was the feeling of being oversheduled, exhausted and overwhelmed. You could equate this feeling to being battered and whipped about by a strong wind. I don't believe that God intends us to live this way, so we’re going to spend the next three weeks looking at how we might begin to take our life back and redirect this wind so that we’re not blow to bits but channeling it for greater energy, purpose and richer relationships. If you're feeling this way or know someone else who might be, I hope you'll invite them and come join us this Sunday for worship.
In the meantime, take a look at some upcoming life-giving ways to serve and get connected in our congregation.
