Resurrection and Butterflies...
The big day is nearly here! Easter Sunday is just days away and it always seems to arrive just in time. Lent can be a heavy journey, especially if you are re-reading the last hours of Christ's life. Betrayed and beaten, nailed to the cross, but still unbeaten!
In preparation for this special day, Rev. Molly and a bunch o' the gang from Water's Edge will help host the Great Sabbath Lovefeast at 6pm on Saturday night (April 6). It's for families, friends, kids and parents. Please consider coming. More details are here.
This Sunday, Rev. Molly will lead us through a discussion of Paul's take on Christ's sacrifice and our sins. As she pointed out in our weekly Water's Edge Planning meeting, there is no rigid orthodoxy regarding how salvation was accomplished through crucifixion. There have been arguments through the ages regarding Jesus being fully human and fully God. Even the Trinity has caused some to get their dander up... But not salvation on the cross.
Perhaps it's because it is the ultimate sacrifice, an incredible gesture that is beyond understanding, so we accept it graciously, with thanks.
Since Sunday is devoted to Christ's resurrection and re-birth, we will also have an opportunity to shed a little light on our re-birth. What in your life needs a peck of the "refresh" button?
What emotions of characteristics in your life would be welcomed if resurrected?
Keep those ideas with you, bring them on Sunday, and, like butterflies from the cocoon, and stones rolled away from the tomb, our dreams will take flight.
See you then!
