My Son's Struggles are My Struggles
When my son was born, I believed it was great to raise a child with his mother who was my wife. Then, when my son was 1 1/2, his mother thought we should separate and she filed for divorce. Then when he was 2 years old, I received full physical and legal custody of him with a Developmental Disabity diagnosed. As I raised him and we was educated within Special Education Classrooms, he showed me that even though he was slow there was much he was able to do despite what some of his teachers said about his abilities. His Sunday School teacher approched me and said to me that they were going to promote him to next level since he knew the Bible more than the other children even though he slower intellectually than were. When he was 15 years of age, on his way to high school he was hit by a car experiencing a head injury as well as further injuries to his legs creating slowness in his walk and ability to only stand for shorter periods of time. The amazing item is that he progressed further learning of the Bible even though he reads the Bible slowly. Now he has many concerns about the Apostle Paul's writings especially about how too many people misinterpret Paul's understanding of women in ministry as lay and clergy leaders especially as Senior Pastors. How does one explain the positive side of women as Senior Pastors when the Church of the Nazarene has been inconsistent in supporting women as Senior Pastors even though since 1894, the Church of the Nazarene has in their constitution that women may be called to be Senior Pastors?
