Reflecting God – Tuesday, 10 December 2013 – “When All Will Bow” Scripture Reading: Psalm 72

Reflecting God – Tuesday, 10 December 2013 – “When All Will Bow” Scripture Reading: Psalm 72: Prayer for Guidance and Support for the King
Of Solomon.
1 Give the king your justice, O God,
and your righteousness to a king’s son.
2 May he judge your people with righteousness,
    and your poor with justice.
3 May the mountains yield prosperity for the people,
    and the hills, in righteousness.
4 May he defend the cause of the poor of the people,
    give deliverance to the needy,
    and crush the oppressor.
5 May he live[a] while the sun endures,
and as long as the moon, throughout all generations.
6 May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass,
like showers that water the earth.
7 In his days may righteousness flourish
and peace abound, until the moon is no more.
8 May he have dominion from sea to sea,
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 May his foes[b] bow down before him,
and his enemies lick the dust.
10 May the kings of Tarshish and of the isles
    render him tribute,
may the kings of Sheba and Seba
    bring gifts.
11 May all kings fall down before him,
    all nations give him service.

“When All Will Bow” by Debbie Salter Goodwin
I love to be at a performance of the “Hallelujah Chorus” at the symphony. There is a full orchestra, the big voices, and then the moment when everyone stands. The power of that moment overwhelms me. I know it comes from a historical tradition, but do you know what I see? I see a preview of that moment in time when all people everywhere recognize that there is only one King of Kings and His name is Jesus. My heart flutters with excitement. And then it beats with fear and almost dread. What of these people who stand only out of homage to tradition and music excellence? What will happen to them?
Jesus came to bring people to God, and we are important members of His search and rescue team. Do you know someone who might be caught unprepared for that closing bow? What words and actions could you use to get them ready to bow for all the right reasons? Why don’t you find a way to share them? Time is running out.
Hymn for Today:
“Angels We Have Heard on High” by Traditional French Carol; translated, Crown of Jesus Music (Alternate)
1. Angels we have heard on high,
sweetly singing o’er the plains,
and the mountains in reply
echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
2. Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
which inspire your heavenly song?
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
3. Come to Bethlehem and see
him whose birth the angels sing;
come, adore on bended knee
Christ, the Lord, the newborn King.
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Thought for Today:
“Wherever hearts are open to Him Christ will be born.”
Prayer Needs:
Many people in Bulgaria will come to know Jesus The Christ (Yeshua The Messiah) and receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit”
