Global Nazarene Mission’s Prayer Mobilization Line – Wednesday, 8 January 2014
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
PRAISES:
Bill McCoy
On Christmas Eve, NMI received a request for missionary doctor Bill McCoy who was en route from Papua New Guinea to Australia for medical tests. On January 2 we received word that Dr. McCoy had returned to his assignment at the Nazarene hospital in Kudjip. We trust the Lord’s hand is on Dr. McCoy’s life and health and are thankful to know he has returned to minister in Papua New Guinea.
New Nazarenes
David Wilson, General Secretary, released the 2013 denominational statistics on December 18, which reveal that we had an increase in members of 14,761 (5.22 percent people from 2012). Praise the Lord. To read the related NCN News story and find the link to the rest of the statistical report, click here.

PRAY FOR:
GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS
Thai Pre-Christians and The True Meaning of Christmas
In the wake of increased attendance by pre-Christians at Christmas outreach events organized by multi-denominational Thai churches, and these people’s interest in the true meaning of Christmas, prayer is requested for God’s way of keeping peace in Bangkok during these days of an anticipated government shutdown next week. Believers don’t know where best to stand on the issues, but prayers for repentance and righteousness on both sides of the issues are needed. May the Lord raise up leaders who will be open and attentive to His heart. Also pray that this time of political tension will open the eyes of local people to see that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Volgograd Bombings
On December 29 and 30, bombs were set and detonated in the Russian town of Volgograd. Nazarenes in the area ask for prayers for:
Peace. God's peace in hearts of the people.
Police officers, rescuers, and other special forces who already had one sleepless night and will have one more
For medics, slippery streets means more injuries, but these explosions added much more work for them
For local and state governments
For the families of the victims and all those affected by the bombs
January Missionary Prayer Focus
Please join Verne Ward, director of Global Mission, and pray for these requests received from missionaries who are part of the January Prayer Focus:
Scott and Jennifer Rainey, serving in Ukraine
For unity on the field (pastors and mission team are scattered throughout six countries - many miles and time zones apart)
For personal evangelism to be the heartbeat of our people on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS)
For continued language study for newer missionaries on this field like us and Joseph and Ree Sumi
For a new volunteer family - Kyle and Becky Sukanen - as they make the transition in 2014 and arrive on the field in August.
For a great month of five district assemblies in March.
For the selection process of a new Field Strategy Coordinator and the transition of leadership in the CIS Field.
For the CIS Partnership meeting (January 24-25) in Orlando, Florida.
For peace in the areas where protesting and terrorism has taken place on the CIS Field
Josh Williams and Family, serving in the U.S.A.
Pray that we will be in the center of God’s will and in balance as we serve Him.
Pray that God would provide the needed resources for the upcoming technology projects and team.
Pray for Josh as he recovers from a recent bout with the flu.
