Please remember the families of those on board S. Korea's ferry in prayer!

Our hearts are heavy here on the Asia-Pacific Region as we follow the devastating loss of a South Korean Ferry and the many passengers on board as overnight, the confirmed death toll rose to 25 with 271 still unaccounted for. In discussion with one of our S. Korean Missionaries, Bill Kwon, he believes that due to the location and the nature of the travel, it would be unlikely that any Nazarenes were on board. He is continuing to follow up.
While there may not be Nazarenes on board, there are never-the-less, many individuals and families who have been devastated by this event. Please pray for the families, for those who might still be trapped alive, and for the safety of the rescuers who are fighting very difficult conditions to reach the victims.

Washed out bridge on the road to the Macedonia Church
After torrential rainfall struck the Solomon Islands, a series of flash floods over April 3rd and 4th left thousands homeless and at least 19 dead.
In the midst of this natural disaster in the Pacific, the Solomon Islands District Church of the Nazarene in partnership with Nazarene Compassionate Ministries is responding! Following are photos and an update of the Nazarene response, submitted by our missionaries, George and Nancy Miller.
White River Church
before flood
April 6th:
•Movement has been difficult due to the fact that two of the main bridges in town were destroyed. The Capitol Honiara, in Guadalcanal Province, has been declared a disaster area.
•The Zion Church board held a meeting to determine the current needs of two neighboring Nazarene churches (White River and Macedonia). Later that day the Zion Church assisted 16 families from White River with bags of rice, tuna, purified water, noodles , sugar and tea.
April 7th:

•Zion church provided similar relief assistance to the Macedonia Church of the Nazarene located in west Guadalcanal.
April 10th:
•Nazarene Compassionate Ministries responded with $2,000 to be used in followup relief and the provision of clean water to effected churches. Two 1,000 liter water tanks were purchased for the White River and Macedonia Churches, along with necessary gutters, tank fittings, and carpentry tools.
•The arrival of the first tank to the White River Church of the Nazarene attracted a huge crowd as they thought that it was from their Member of Parliament. Just in time, after the tank was installed, a deluge of rain came through and in 30 minutes the 1,000 liter tank was filled with fresh clean water.
Relief supplies delivered to Macedonia Church
April 11th:
•Zion Church delivered a second wave of food relief to the White River Church and to the family of one of our pastors who was seeking shelter in a government care center.
•A second water tank was delivered to Macedonia Church along with basic carpentry and gardening tools, in addition to relief food.
April 14th:
•Assistance was given to one of our senior pastors (Jeremian Akoeasi) and his family, who lost most of their clothes and household utensils.
•Volunteers were sent to the Macedonia Church to assist in setting the foundation for the church water tank. Further food and water relief was also provided.
Relief supplies delivered
Thank you to the Zion Nazarene Church, to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and to all of you who have continued to pray for and partner with this disaster response. Together we are making a great impact in the Solomon Islands, serving as the tangible hands and feet of Christ!
Nazarene Pastor from Thailand passes away after accident.
Situek, Thailand

The Asia-Pacific Region is mourning the loss of a significant member of our ministry team in Thailand. Pastor Prakaen Dongsonkram, passed away at his home on the morning of April 16th after complications from an accident that occurred on January 1st. Pastor Prakaen awoke one month ago from a coma and was starting to see some improvement, so this turn of events has come as a significant challenge to the family and members of the Situek Church of the Nazarene.
"Pastor Prakaen is remembered as an exuberant pastor who always praised God by singing and lifting both hands to the Lord," said Lisa Lehman, team member in Thailand.
"He had a vision for ministry and looked for ways to reach into the community. The last four months have been heart breaking for us and the church as we watched him recover some and now pass on," stated David Phillips, Field Strategy Coordinator for the Southeast Asia Field.
One thing is for sure, this Easter, Pastor Prakaen will be celebrating and dancing again to worship music in the presence of the King!
Please keep the members of Pastor Prakaen's family, church, and the Thailand ministry team in your prayers.
The memorial service for Pastor Prakaen will be held on Saturday, April 19th, in Situek.

Creating Communications that Connect is truly a primary goal of World Mission Communications Asia-Pacific. We applaud the creativity of local churches as they use media technology to share the story of missions and connect with their local congregations!
We just recently received a link from Kathleen Taranto at Toms River Church of the Nazarene, where she is creating "Missions Minute" videos for her local congregation. Through establishment of a YouTube Nazarene Missions Channel, she is helping to connect her church to missions.
Way to go Kathleen! Thank you for partnering with our missions teams around the world in keeping the story of missions alive and fresh! Perhaps your church could use some of her videos!
