Global Church of the Nazarene DAY 32 OF 40 - Better Together Through Prayer And The Word
Nehemiah 9:5-6
5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, "Stand up and bless the Lord your God from everlasting to everlasting. Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise. 6 "You are the Lord, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and you preserve all of them; and the host of heaven worships you.
DAY 32 – CELEBRATE GOD
The Levites are standing on the stairs of the platform before the Israelite people. One group of Levites calls out in “loud voices to the Lord their God.” The second group says to the people, “Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting.” The celebration begins…
SCRIPTURE: Nehemiah 9:5 Then the Levites, Jeshua, and Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah, and Pethahiah, said, “Stand up and bless Yahweh your God from everlasting to everlasting! Blessed be your glorious name, which is exalted above all blessing and praise! 6 You are Yahweh, even you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their army, the earth and all things that are on it, the seas and all that is in them, and you preserve them all. The army of heaven worships you.
Nehemiah Chapter 9 began with the mourning and confessing of the people; but once that was completed, a true celebration began. It was not a celebration focused on any earthly person or thing. It was a celebration about God and to God. It was a time of exalting the glorious name and exalting that name above all blessing and praise.
Look at verse 6 again. Who is this God they are blessing and praising? The only Lord God…the creator of the heavens, even the highest heavens and the starry hosts…creator of the earth and seas and all that is in them…the giver of life to all…
Not only were the Israelite people praising and worshiping that day, but the scripture tells us that the multitudes of heaven worshiped God. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord (Psalm 150:6)!
LIFE APPLICATION: 1) Begin your praise by thinking of words that describe God (or Jesus) and who he is. (Example: Almighty, Creator) Choose a certain letter of the alphabet for your words, or choose a word for each letter of the alphabet.
2)Don’t ask for anything as requests; just give our God praise!!
