PRAISES: 

Praise for Solomon Islands Flooding Response
•We thank the Lord for the generosity of Zion Church of the Nazarene in the Solomon Islands. They decided to give immediate food assistance to both the White River and Macedonia churches and delivered the food to the churches themselves.
•Pastor Osborn and his wife, Hilda, of the White River Church, have been cooking and taking food to 32 people daily who are in desperate need. We praise the Lord for Hilda. The fact that she was home and kept calm probably saved many lives. Their home was at a higher elevation and was not affected, but they were situated at the convergence of the flood waters.
•We are thankful for Nazarene Compassionate Ministries as some relief funds were received recently. As a result, two water tanks were ordered (one for Macedonia and one for White River), and young people have already delivered them. The Zion Church is organizing a Work & Witness team to help install the water tanks and deliver tools, food, and other relief supplies. Thank you to NCM and to donors who contributed.
•Some Australian Nazarene brothers and sisters are also planning on assisting in the relief.
•Prayer partners from the USA have contacted missionary George Miller, assuring him of their prayers and asking how they can assist.
Hal Cauthron Surgery
Professor Hal Cauthron fell at Southern Nazarene University last week and broke his hip. We are thanking the Lord that Hal came through surgery well and is recuperating. Please pray for Hal Cauthron as he undergoes physical therapy and rehab. Hal and his wife, Nancy, are former missionaries to Swaziland and South Africa.

PRAY FOR: GLOBAL MINISTRY REQUESTS 

Flooding in the Solomon Islands
George Miller writes, “The only area that I know of with significant damage where the Nazarene work is located, is on the Island of Guadalcanal. We have three churches on the island of Guadalcanal: Zion Church in Honiara, White River Church, and Macedonia Church in West Guadalcanal.”
•Zion Church: At this point, we have not heard of any members or regular attendees who suffered loss within their immediate families. Some members’ extended family did have some loss. Pray for the Zion Church, as they are the staging church to facilitate the relief efforts to the other two churches.
•Macedonia: Even though they had serious flooding, there was no loss of life and no buildings were destroyed, other than a small piggery (all the pigs survived).
oTheir water supply was contaminated. Even the water from natural spring that is their water supply—and usually is only temporarily affected—still tastes terrible.
oTheir gardens, including the hardier crops like bananas and cassava, have all washed away. It will be three months or longer before a harvest can be gathered. The people’s food and much of their income come from their gardens.
oThey also lost all of their garden tools, as they were stored near the garden and were covered up and/or washed away.
•White River Church: We praise the Lord that there was no loss of life of members or attendees of the White River Church; however, 16 families that attend the church did suffer some damage.
oThe bottom floor of the associate pastor's home was flooded; this is where the church met. Associate Pastor Jeremiah's children were rescued, but many of their clothes were washed away, along with his kitchen. The pulpit and an easel were salvaged, but many other items were damaged. Pray that the clean-up will progress rapidly, and pray for the safety of those who are cleaning. The church has been holding holiness classes in the recent weeks leading up to a tremendous Easter service and Baptism; please pray that these will not be hindered.
oSome families from the church lost everything except the clothes they were wearing. Some homes belonging to new Christians and new Nazarenes sustained damage. Please pray for these families as they rebuild their lives and the church as we respond to their needs.
oOf the 16 families affected, most of the parents do not attend the church, but send their children. Pray with us to be a loving community as we give food to the families, that God will use this compassion to bring the families closer to Him.

April Missionary Prayer Focus

Collin and Shireen Elliott, serving in South Africa
•Pray for their assignment in church growth and research, church health, and district development.
•Pray for the Elliotts’ statistical secretaries on the different fields.
•Pray for their daughter Amy as she seeks employment.
•Pray for Collin and Shireen as they begin six weeks of home assignment next month.
•Pray for peaceful general elections in South Africa to be held on 7 May 2014.
