With deep sympathy and prayers, we share news of the passing of Laura Johnson, of our congregation.
Born on March 18, 1933 in Brighton, MI; she passed from this life on Saturday, July 12 in Laguna Woods, CA, where she had been living for the past several years. Laura is survived by her husband of 26 years, Wayne, and her son, Kenneth (Lin). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Marjorie Steinhoff.
A visitation and viewing will be held at the O'Connor Mortuary Chapel (25301 Alicia Parkway, Laguna Hills, CA, 92653) on Wednesday, July 23 at 6 pm.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 10:30 am at Lutheran Church of the Cross (24231 El Toro Road, Laguna Woods, CA, 92637). A reception will follow the service.

In remembrance of Laura, we share a part of this prayer that she prayed with her grandfather every morning, after reading the Bible, during her early childhood:
Our Heavenly Father,
We come to thee this day with hearts full of gratitude for all the blessings thou hadst bestowed upon us. We know that everything we have comes from thee. ... May we know thee and serve thee and thereby inherit eternal life. ...
May we live our lives so carefully that we may cause no one to stumble. Be with the poor and the sick, comfort them in their time of need. Be with our children and grandchildren. May they know thee and serve thee all the days of their lives.
Amen.
