DEATH NOTICE
The Rev. Don Christensen, 81, retired pastor in the Great Plains Conference passed July 5, 2014, he was born July 16, 1932.   The memorial service will be at First UMC, 2723 N. 50th, Lincoln on Sunday, August 3rd at 3 p.m.  Burial of Don’s ashes will be at Arlington National Cemetery on a future date.
Don has two sons, David and Steve, he was preceded in death by his wife Beth on October 14, 2013.
Don was Youth Director at Washington Park Methodist Church in Denver, and then served Wallace Grainton charge in Nebraska, and then the Wesley Park Methodist Church in Lincoln.  In 1966 Don entered the US Military Chaplaincy, serving in Korea, Vietnam, and state-side.
Don officiated at over 1,000 funerals at Arlington National Cemetery from 1978 to 1982.  He and his spouse, Beth, returned to Nebraska to serve churches at Beaver Crossing, Seward-Salem, DeWitt, Pickrell, and Ainsworth-Johnstown.  After retirement in 1994 he was pastor of La Platte Community Church, south of Bellevue, Ne.
