THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
Revelation 19: The Sound of Hallelujahs
1-3 I heard a sound like massed choirs in Heaven singing,
Hallelujah!
The salvation and glory and power are God’s—
his judgments true, his judgments just.
He judged the great Whore
who corrupted the earth with her lust.
He avenged on her the blood of his servants.
Then, more singing:
Hallelujah!
The smoke from her burning billows up
to high Heaven forever and ever and ever.
4 The Twenty-four Elders and the Four Animals fell to their knees and worshiped God on his Throne, praising,
Amen! Yes! Hallelujah!
5 From the Throne came a shout, a command:
Praise our God, all you his servants,
All you who fear him, small and great!
6-8 Then I heard the sound of massed choirs, the sound of a mighty cataract, the sound of strong thunder:
Hallelujah!
The Master reigns,
our God, the Sovereign-Strong!
Let us celebrate, let us rejoice,
let us give him the glory!
The Marriage of the Lamb has come;
his Wife has made herself ready.
She was given a bridal gown
of bright and shining linen.
The linen is the righteousness of the saints.
9 The Angel said to me, “Write this: ‘Blessed are those invited to the Wedding Supper of the Lamb.’” He added, “These are the true words of God!”
10 I fell at his feet to worship him, but he wouldn’t let me. “Don’t do that,” he said. “I’m a servant just like you, and like your brothers and sisters who hold to the witness of Jesus. The witness of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
A White Horse and Its Rider
11-16 Then I saw Heaven open wide—and oh! a white horse and its Rider. The Rider, named Faithful and True, judges and makes war in pure righteousness. His eyes are a blaze of fire, on his head many crowns. He has a Name inscribed that’s known only to himself. He is dressed in a robe soaked with blood, and he is addressed as “Word of God.” The armies of Heaven, mounted on white horses and dressed in dazzling white linen, follow him. A sharp sword comes out of his mouth so he can subdue the nations, then rule them with a rod of iron. He treads the winepress of the raging wrath of God, the Sovereign-Strong. On his robe and thigh is written, King of kings, Lord of lords.
17-18 I saw an Angel standing in the sun, shouting to all flying birds in Middle-Heaven, “Come to the Great Supper of God! Feast on the flesh of kings and captains and champions, horses and their riders. Eat your fill of them all—free and slave, small and great!”
19-21 I saw the Beast and, assembled with him, earth’s kings and their armies, ready to make war against the One on the horse and his army. The Beast was taken, and with him, his puppet, the False Prophet, who used signs to dazzle and deceive those who had taken the mark of the Beast and worshiped his image. They were thrown alive, those two, into Lake Fire and Brimstone. The rest were killed by the sword of the One on the horse, the sword that comes from his mouth. All the birds held a feast on their flesh.
The Second Coming is referred to many times from Genesis to Revelation. It is mentioned 1800 times in the Old Testament and 300 times in the New Testament. It is referred to in 27 Old
Testament books and 23 New Testament books. For every prophecy in the Bible about the first coming of Jesus there are 8 prophecies about the second coming of Jesus. One message is clear in the
Bible. Christ will come back again to this earth.
Revelation 19 contains the most significant event in all of human history apart from the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is coming back to judge His enemies, to set up His kingdom, and to rule over the earth for 1000 years, and Satan will be chained.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES
1. The marriage of the Lamb has come. “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints” (Revelation 19:7–8 NKJV).
2. Jesus comes back in fulfillment of His promise, and will judge the earth. Jesus has promised to come again. He said in John 14:3, “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and
receive you to Myself; that where I am you may be also” (NKJV). There is nothing arbitrary or unjust about His judgment. There are penalties for sin.
3. His return will be accompanied by sadness and weeping. Zechariah 12:10 says, “Then I will pour out a spirit of grace and prayer on the family of David and on the people of Jerusalem. They will look on me whom they have pierced and mourn for him as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him as for a firstborn son who has died” (NLT).
4. The people take what little strength they have left and make war against the Lord. And I saw the beast, the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army” (Revelation 19:19 NKJV). This just shows how wicked these people really are.
5. The beast and the false prophet are sent to the lake of fire. Revelation 19:20 says, “Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone” (NKJV).
RELEVANT REMINDERS • God is completely just. He is faithful and true. He offers manyopportunities for people to believe. • Believers will give an account and will be rewarded, or not
rewarded, according to how we have lived our lives. Do what the
Lord has called you to do and be faithful in that. • Nonbelievers will not be judged for good deeds, but will be
judged according to what they did with Jesus Christ the Son of
God. For the nonbeliever it will be too late. APPLICABLE ACTIONS Is there spiritual fruit in your life? Is there evidence in your life that you are a true follower of Jesus? Let me put it another way. If you were arrested for being a
Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you? Judgmentis coming. It is coming for believers, and we will give account
for how we have lived our lives, for what we have done with our
time for what we have done with the gifts God gave us. So live
your life well. Live it for the glory of God. Don’t lose your
testimony.

When Jesus is "Lord" of our lives, He's in charge. And yet too many believers call Him Lord yet follow their own agenda. Pastor Greg Laurie points out the importance of remaining true disciples. It's an important study in the book of Revelation.

Does God's judgment have a positive side? Pastor Greg Laurie says, "Yes!" Pastor Greg Laurie explains how God's judgment is fair and consistent, and can ultimately lead us to His forgiveness.
TURNING THE WORLD RIGHT SIDE UP
Revelation 20: A Thousand Years
1-3 I saw an Angel descending out of Heaven. He carried the key to the Abyss and a chain—a huge chain. He grabbed the Dragon, that old Snake—the very Devil, Satan himself!—chained him up for a thousand years, dumped him into the Abyss, slammed it shut and sealed it tight. No more trouble out of him, deceiving the nations—until the thousand years are up. After that he has to be let loose briefly.
4-6 I saw thrones. Those put in charge of judgment sat on the thrones. I also saw the souls of those beheaded because of their witness to Jesus and the Word of God, who refused to worship either the Beast or his image, refused to take his mark on forehead or hand—they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years! The rest of the dead did not live until the thousand years were up. This is the first resurrection—and those involved most blessed, most holy. No second death for them! They’re priests of God and Christ; they’ll reign with him a thousand years.
7-10 When the thousand years are up, Satan will be let loose from his cell, and will launch again his old work of deceiving the nations, searching out victims in every nook and cranny of earth, even Gog and Magog! He’ll talk them into going to war and will gather a huge army, millions strong. They’ll stream across the earth, surround and lay siege to the camp of God’s holy people, the Beloved City. They’ll no sooner get there than fire will pour out of Heaven and burn them up. The Devil who deceived them will be hurled into Lake Fire and Brimstone, joining the Beast and False Prophet, the three in torment around the clock for ages without end.
Judgment
11-15 I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books, by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire.
and Luke 19: Zacchaeus
1-4 Then Jesus entered and walked through Jericho. There was a man there, his name Zacchaeus, the head tax man and quite rich. He wanted desperately to see Jesus, but the crowd was in his way—he was a short man and couldn’t see over the crowd. So he ran on ahead and climbed up in a sycamore tree so he could see Jesus when he came by.
5-7 When Jesus got to the tree, he looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, hurry down. Today is my day to be a guest in your home.” Zacchaeus scrambled out of the tree, hardly believing his good luck, delighted to take Jesus home with him. Everyone who saw the incident was indignant and grumped, “What business does he have getting cozy with this crook?”
8 Zacchaeus just stood there, a little stunned. He stammered apologetically, “Master, I give away half my income to the poor—and if I’m caught cheating, I pay four times the damages.”
9-10 Jesus said, “Today is salvation day in this home! Here he is: Zacchaeus, son of Abraham! For the Son of Man came to find and restore the lost.”
The Story About Investment
11 While he had their attention, and because they were getting close to Jerusalem by this time and expectation was building that God’s kingdom would appear any minute, he told this story:
12-13 “There was once a man descended from a royal house who needed to make a long trip back to headquarters to get authorization for his rule and then return. But first he called ten servants together, gave them each a sum of money, and instructed them, ‘Operate with this until I return.’
14 “But the citizens there hated him. So they sent a commission with a signed petition to oppose his rule: ‘We don’t want this man to rule us.’
15 “When he came back bringing the authorization of his rule, he called those ten servants to whom he had given the money to find out how they had done.
16 “The first said, ‘Master, I doubled your money.’
17 “He said, ‘Good servant! Great work! Because you’ve been trustworthy in this small job, I’m making you governor of ten towns.’
18 “The second said, ‘Master, I made a fifty percent profit on your money.’
19 “He said, ‘I’m putting you in charge of five towns.’
20-21 “The next servant said, ‘Master, here’s your money safe and sound. I kept it hidden in the cellar. To tell you the truth, I was a little afraid. I know you have high standards and hate sloppiness, and don’t suffer fools gladly.’
22-23 “He said, ‘You’re right that I don’t suffer fools gladly—and you’ve acted the fool! Why didn’t you at least invest the money in securities so I would have gotten a little interest on it?’
24 “Then he said to those standing there, ‘Take the money from him and give it to the servant who doubled my stake.’
25 “They said, ‘But Master, he already has double . . .’
26 “He said, ‘That’s what I mean: Risk your life and get more than you ever dreamed of. Play it safe and end up holding the bag.
27 “‘As for these enemies of mine who petitioned against my rule, clear them out of here. I don’t want to see their faces around here again.’”
God’s Personal Visit
28-31 After saying these things, Jesus headed straight up to Jerusalem. When he got near Bethphage and Bethany at the mountain called Olives, he sent off two of the disciples with instructions: “Go to the village across from you. As soon as you enter, you’ll find a colt tethered, one that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says anything, asks, ‘What are you doing?’ say, ‘His Master needs him.’”
32-33 The two left and found it just as he said. As they were untying the colt, its owners said, “What are you doing untying the colt?”
34 They said, “His Master needs him.”
35-36 They brought the colt to Jesus. Then, throwing their coats on its back, they helped Jesus get on. As he rode, the people gave him a grand welcome, throwing their coats on the street.
37-38 Right at the crest, where Mount Olives begins its descent, the whole crowd of disciples burst into enthusiastic praise over all the mighty works they had witnessed:
Blessed is he who comes,
the king in God’s name!
All’s well in heaven!
Glory in the high places!
39 Some Pharisees from the crowd told him, “Teacher, get your disciples under control!”
40 But he said, “If they kept quiet, the stones would do it for them, shouting praise.”
41-44 When the city came into view, he wept over it. “If you had only recognized this day, and everything that was good for you! But now it’s too late. In the days ahead your enemies are going to bring up their heavy artillery and surround you, pressing in from every side. They’ll smash you and your babies on the pavement. Not one stone will be left intact. All this because you didn’t recognize and welcome God’s personal visit.”
45-46 Going into the Temple he began to throw out everyone who had set up shop, selling everything and anything. He said, “It’s written in Scripture,
My house is a house of prayer;
You have turned it into a religious bazaar.”
47-48 From then on he taught each day in the Temple. The high priests, religion scholars, and the leaders of the people were trying their best to find a way to get rid of him. But with the people hanging on every word he spoke, they couldn’t come up with anything.
It seems like the whole world is infected with the stench of sin, and there’s no cure in sight. Why are things the way they are? Why does the devil want our destruction? Satan effectively knows his days are numbered. Jesus Christ is coming back, and He is going to take this sin-sick world and turn it
right side up.
Today’s study continues in Revelation 20, with the beginning of the 1,000 year reign of Jesus on earth. We also look to Luke 19, at a parable directly connected to this passage in Revelation, making it clear that when Christ rules on earth, Christians will rule and reign with Him.
PRACTICAL PRINCIPLES
1. We all have our lives. The span of our lives is graciously given to us by God. According to Scripture we are placed here on this earth to glorify and honor God, and bring forth spiritual
fruit. In heaven one of the songs we will sing, according to Revelation 4:11, is, “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For You created all things, and they exist because You created what You pleased” (NLT).
2. We all have our money. The way we spend our money is a direct reflection of the priorities in our lives. 2 Corinthians 9:7–8 says, “You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And
don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. ‘For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.’ And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others” (NLT).
3. We have the sacred trust of the gospel message. Jesus has given us a command to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Paul mentioned in his letter to young Timothy how the glorious gospel was committed to his trust. Paul also writes in 1 Thessalonians 2 that we have been “approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, who tests our hearts” (NKJV).
RELEVANT REMINDERS
• One day you will receive your reward. That reward will be directly connected to how faithful you were in this life. Our faithfulness here results in our reward in heaven.
• We are not home yet, but one day we will be. Our job until that day is to be faithful with the gifts, opportunities, and resources that God has given to us.
• One day there is going to be peace. It is not going to be brought about by any nation. It is going to be brought about by God Himself. He is coming again.
APPLICABLE ACTIONS
How are you getting the gospel out? We need to think about our family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors—our sphere of influence. Jesus is coming soon, and He wants us to take this message that He has entrusted to us, and get it out to others. That is your call as a follower of Jesus.

Our world today is far different than the Garden of Eden God first created. But Pastor Greg Laurie says the Lord has plans for a complete restoration. In fact, Pastor Greg says those restoration plans go much further than most people think.

Pastor Greg Laurie points out, "Some people set the world on fire while others are still looking for a match." He points out how God can take what we offer Him and use it to change the world. It's encouraging insight from Pastor Greg's studies in Revelation.
