This Sunday we have many exciting things happening:
The Rev. Anna Carter Florence guest preaching via video. Dr. Florence is the Peter Marshall Associate Professor of Preaching at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. She is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church and holds degrees from Yale College and Princeton Theological Seminary. Her books include Preaching as Testimony and Inscribing the Word, and she is a frequent teacher and lecturer in this country and abroad. Dr. Florence is a sought after speaker and you won't want to miss worship this Sunday!
"FROZEN" Movie Night @ Resurrection West - Sunday night at 6:30pm Join us in the Sanctuary following 5pm worship for a fun evening of pizza, ice cream, a great movie and more! Bring your own seating if you'd like (lawn chair, blanket, etc.) or the chairs in the Sanctuary will be available.
We continue our Bless the School - Ridgeview Elementary School Supply Drive. Help bless the students at our partner school by supplying essential materials they will need throughout the upcoming school year. Bags with attached shopping lists are available at the table in the entryway. Please bring your completed bags back to the church by Sunday, July 27. Mega Mission - Mark your calendars to join us for Mega Mission at Ridgeview Elementary on Saturday, Aug. 2nd - A great event for all ages as we help beautify the grounds and prepare the classrooms for the start of the new school year. We will then host a celebration cookout for the parents and families of the Ridgeview Elementary community - complete with water fun and activities for all ages! Coffee with the Pastors - Sunday, Aug. 24, 2:30-4:30 pm. Are you considering joining Resurrection? The first step is to attend Coffee with the Pastors where you will learn more about the church, get to know our pastors and review expectations regarding membership. Childcare is available. Sacred Steps 5k - Sept. 20, 8 am. How can you help supply clean water to families in Africa? Join our Sacred Steps 5k at the Leawood Campus. This event helps to raise funds so that our Methodist partners can dig wells in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. You can walk, run or just donate and enjoy the food and drink at the finish line. New for 2014: Create a team! Get your team together and register as a group. The largest group will win a prize. To register go to cor.org/sacredsteps.
Men's Retreat - Fly-fishing at Rockbridge Rainbow Trout & Game Ranch, Oct. 24-26. A great opportunity for guys to come together through devotion, worship, fellowship and fly-fishing! Whether you've never touched a fly rod before or you're an avid fisherman, we'll ensure your success on the waters by teaching to all levels of experience. Finally, pastor Chris Holliday will be writing you next week as my family and I are headed out on vacation. I am excited for pastor Chris to be preaching on July 27th. I will then be back preaching on August 3rd & 10th - a series called, Invitation. I look forward to sharing incredible stories where you have invited a friend to worship with us at Resurrection West and that invitation is changing their lives!
