God's mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:23,24).
After the Book of Jeremiah comes the Book of Lamentations, which contains 5 chapters of Lament - Lament over the destruction of Jerusalem. And Jeremiah is called "the Weeping Prophet" because of this outpouring of grief. It's a book we can all identify with in our own times of grief and loss. But here is the good news: tucked right in the middle of the book are several verses of Hope, calling to mind God's steadfast faithfulness, which is new every morning; these few verses make up the heart of the great hymn: "Great is Thy Faithfulness."
Whatever difficulty you or I might be dealing with now or will have to deal with in the future, God's mercies are there and God's faithfulness is sure. Amen.
P.S. You may be wondering why I'm doing these DSE's while I'm on vacation..it's because I'm writing these as my own devotions each day.
