This is the inscription that was written (on the wall): Mene, Mene,
Tekel, Parsin
Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians
All the ancients knew this truth: that Pride was the greatest of sins, the one thing most to be feared. Daniel had to share that truth with the "great" Nebuchanezzar," and nearly every other earthly ruler who has come along since. Pride is an insidious thing, one that threatens to affect all of us. I suppose that's why it's so refreshing when someone like Pope Francis comes along, who lives out a humble life, while still accomplishing great things, amazing things.
Humility is living out of our true self that finds its security and value in Jesus, and therefore acts from motives that are pure and good. You can tell a humble person - they're the ones who are "comfortable in their own skins," and help you to feel that way too.
Pray about taking Disciple 1, 2, 3, 4 or Christian Believer this Fall. 34 weeks. Excellent. Sign ups late August.
